The Canadian provinces of Ontario and Quebec are beautiful at any time of year, but particularly so in the autumn, when the vibrantly colourful leaves make for a spectacular display. This tour starts out in Toronto, before heading into the forests of St Lawrence valley, taking in historic cities, action-packed resorts and a cruise of the stunning 1000 Islands on your way to Montreal.
Arrive in Toronto
Your tour begins as you arrive at Pearson International Airport and make your own way to your downtown hotel. You'll then have the rest of the day at leisure to rest or begin exploring the city.
You have a full day to explore Toronto. The city centre is easy to navigate on foot: take a stroll through its many parks, browse the shops and make the most of the excellent restaurants.
Toronto to Keene/Elmhirst Resort
Today you'll head northeast, out of Toronto, to the "Cottage Country" that surrounds the city, a picturesque landscape of idyllic cottages and placid lakes. Here you'll spend the next two days in a private cottage, part of a lakeside resort with plenty of amenities.
You're spoiled for choice when it comes to today's activities. You could take a canoe or kayak trip, enjoy a wide range of sports, tour the onsite working farm or just relax and make use of the barbecue facilities and fire pits. Do take time to hike the local trails and admire the beautiful autumn colours.
Keene/Elmhirst Resort to Kingston
Today you'll head south, into the lush forests of the St Lawrence basin, criss-crossed by the rivers and streams that join to form the mighty St Lawrence River. Here you'll enjoy a breathtaking cruise of the magical 1,000 Islands region before arriving in Kingston, one of the oldest cities in Canada.
Kingston to Ottawa
Today you'll head north, through the lush landscapes of the river basin and the rugged rock formations of the Canadian Shield, admiring the vibrancy of the ancient forests along the way. On arrival in Ottawa you'll have some time to start exploring – perhaps you'll visit the neo-gothic Parliament buildings or stroll alongside the Rideau Canal.
Ottawa to Tremblant
You'll have some more time at leisure to continue exploring Ottawa this morning, before leaving and crossing the provincial border into Quebec. You'll ascend the Laurentian Mountains, heading for the lively resort village of Tremblant.
A full day in Tremblant gives you a chance to enjoy some of this region's many activities, such as hiking the local trails, visiting the historic village of St Jovite, or browsing the shops for everything from local wines and beers to original artworks.
Tremblant to Quebec City
Today you're following the path of the St Lawrence, on the scenic "King's Highway", past numerous attractive French-Canadian villages. On arrival in Quebec City, you'll will discover a magnificent UNESCO World Heritage Site of cobblestone streets and historic buildings.
You have a full day today in Quebec City, to soak up some of the colonial history, as well as taking in some of the attractions of this vibrant modern city.
Quebec City to Sherbrooke/Orford
Today you'll follow the south bank of the St Lawrence River, through the small villages that dot the heartland of Quebec. The picture-perfect Sherbrooke/Magog region is heaven for outdoor enthusiasts and artists alike.
Sherbrooke/Orford to Montreal
After a short drive through Montreal's suburbs this morning, you'll have the rest of the day to start exploring the city. The city is famous throughout the world for its food, from French fine-dining to the classic Quebec dish of poutine.
Your tour comes to an end today as you proceed to the airport for your onward flight.
