Overview
Many visitors to Thailand are happy to spend most or all of their holiday time relaxing at one of the many beautiful beach resorts that have made the country so popular. But there is so much to see and do at this exotic destination and this three day trip to the famous Bridge over the River Kwai, and the fascinating jungle area around it, really gives you a genuine feel for life in south east Asia. And as the tour begins and ends in Bangkok, it can make a great add on to any longer visit to the capital city.
Day 1
Bangkok to the River Kwai
An early pick up from your city hotel for the journey to Kanchanaburi. First stop is at the Thailand-Burma Railway Centre, a museum which preserves the history of the notorious railway. Then stop at the Allied War Cemetery to see the memorial to some 6,000 allied prisoners of war. After a restaurant lunch visit Hellfire Pass Memorial to reflect on the tragic circumstances that befell these men and boys. Then take an exhilarating ride on a long-tailed boat on the River Kwai to The Float House. After dinner there see a traditional dance show.

Day 2
River Kwai
After breakfast you are taken on another exciting long-tailed boat trip upstream to Saiyoke Yai Waterfall and National Park, where you can experience nature at its best. Enjoy lunch at the Jungle Rafts, which is located directly on the river. Then in the afternoon you have the opportunity to visit a nearby ethnic Mon Tribal Village to get a feel for day to day life in rural Thailand. After this fascinating visit you can explore Lawa Caves before returning to your hotel for dinner.

Day 3
River Kwai to Bangkok
After breakfast there is free time to explore the area either on your own or on another oganised tour. Then, after lunch at your hotel, you are taken to the nearby railway station for a memorable and historical ride on the Death Railway during which you pass over the original wooden viaduct which was built by Allied POWs. After this moving experience you begin the journey back to Bangkok where you are dropped off at your hotel. This short tour is a must while staying in Bangkok.
