Located on the quiet west coast of Sri Lanka, this tranquil adults-only resort offers sumptuous private accommodation, delicious food and exemplary service in a tropical paradise beach location. Situated in an old coconut palm plantation, the surrounding gardens are immaculate and modern Balinese architecture creates a chic, opulent setting, plus its west-facing orientation makes for some stunning sunsets.
There are 12 elegant pavilions at the resort, including eight Ocean Pavilions and four Garden Pavilions, all with a private butler service. The ideal couples retreat, Ocean Pavilions boast a Jacuzzi, private plunge pool, four-poster bed, a living and dining area opening onto a sun deck, a dressing room, home entertainment system with flat screen TV and a private bar. The four significantly larger Serene Pavilions comfortably sleep up to six people with extra living space and larger surrounding gardens.
Bordered by water features, the Pavilion Clubhouse offers a fully equipped gym and spa, hair salon, nail spa, boutique and jewellery shop. There is also a reading room and tennis court. The stylish pool is located within the gardens and has ample sunbathing space with comfortable loungers, several submerged Jacuzzi beds and a tropical pavilion for shade. Take a visit to the Serenity Spa for a selection of Aryuveda therapies and tailored treatment programmes. Choose from a variety of excursions and trips including golf at the Royal Colombo and Royal Victoria courses, lively international cricket matches at Colombo or Galle, shopping in the bustling Pettah Market, a visit to Galle Fort and a variety of watersports including snorkelling, boat trips, diving and windsurfing. Staff will also happily arrange transport to local tea trails, turtle sanctuaries, temples and beaches.
Due to its coastal location, dining options include locally-sourced fresh fish from red snapper to lobster as well as rainforest river prawns. The romantic Pavilions Restaurant looks out over the tropical garden and out towards the ocean. Sample the delicious menu as tropical birds flit below and fishing boats navigate their way back to shore. There’s also fresh bread from the hotel’s in-house bakery. The Amritha Bar is situated below the restaurant, and facing due west, is the perfect location to watch the sun set with a cocktail in hand. Make sure to try a tipple of Arrak, the national drink of Sri Lanka.
