Located on a private island, two miles off the coast of Antigua, accessible only by private ferry, Jumby Bay is a luxurious hideaway set on four-and-a-half miles of pristine Caribbean beaches. Whether you want to enjoy some pampering in the spa, relax on the beach, sample delicious food or get active at the watersports centre, there’s something here to keep the whole family happy.
At the spa you can treat yourself to a massage or other treatment that combines modern international spa practices with ancient healing remedies of the West Indies and Africa, using local natural ingredients including coconut, aloe, neem, lemongrass, and other essential oils and spices. You can also chill out in the shaded open-air relaxation lounge with plunge pool, or relax in the steam room and sauna, and there’s a beauty salon, spa boutique, fitness centre and yoga pavilion.
There are 40 elegant rooms and luxurious villas, each of them set just steps from the white sands. Each has its own terrace with views of the Caribbean, and amenities including outdoor shower, four-poster bed, television, Bose sound system, telephone, minibar, safe and air-conditioning. You can also stay in a spacious villa, with private pool and up to five bedrooms.
Relax on a chaise under a thatched bohio on the beach, while attendants keep you well-supplied with cocktails, cold water, snacks and fresh towels. Take a dip in one of the three pools, or try something a little more adventurous at 22 Knots, the Jumby Bay watersports centre. You could also take a island-hopping tour, or enjoy a game of tennis or a round of golf at Antigua’s only 18-hole championship course, situated less than 15 minutes away from the resort dock on mainland Antigua. Children have a full programme of activities to enjoy.
The Estate House offers fine-dining, combining classic West Indies dishes with modern island flavours, while the more casual Jumby Bay Bar & Lounge serves small plates and cocktails around the communal fire pit. There’s also a poolside grill serving casual bistro fare, snacks, cocktails and smoothies, and the Beach Shack, offering authentic local street food with an emphasis on freshly-caught seafood. For something really special, you can arrange your own bespoke private beach-dining experience. There are also two bars.
