On the wild west coast of Mauritius, the Tamarina Hotel sits between a beach known for its excellent surfing and the lush jungle and sugarcane plants of the island’s interior. Once a fishing village, the area has now become a 3 star hotel ideal for those looking for a golf, spa or adventure break on a white sand beach.
Open every day, the Tamarina spa offers a selection of massages, facials and other treatments to stunning jungle views. Guests on the all inclusive package can enjoy a daily 45 minute massage included, or those on the golf package will receive one 45 minute massage during their stay.
Golfers will love the all inclusive package at Tamarina which includes unlimited golf at the 18 hole championship course nearby, designed by Rodney Wright. This course at the foot of the dramatic Rempart Mountain has fantastic views of Tamarin Bay and the Rampart River.
With only 50 rooms, this is an intimate hotel with a friendly feel. Looking out onto the beach or the well-maintained forest, each room here is decorated in warm African colours, with wicker and wooden furniture for a tribal touch. Extra beds for children are not allowed in the rooms, nor are there any interconnecting rooms, however, cots for infants are available.
The four pools at the Tamarina are surrounded by hibiscus flowers and scented frangipani trees, making them utterly relaxing. Swim in the warm waters of the clear turquoise seas or try your hand at waterskiing or diving at the schools nearby. Tennis, golf, catamaran cruises and dolphin watching are also available. For the more adventurous, quad, buggy or segway trips into the game-filled Casela Nature & Leisure park are highly recommended. Wheeling up to a herd of zebra will be a once-in-a-lifetime photo opportunity .
You’ll be spoilt for choice each day with four restaurants on the beach, by the golf clubhouse, overlooking a pool and within the nature reserve. Tuck into international cuisine with creole accents, fresh seafood on the beach, pizza or lighter snacks.
