The Sugar Cane Club is a luxurious, tranquil and secluded boutique hotel set in a Mediterranean-style building that boasts a fabulous hilltop location overlooking the exotic west coast of Barbados. Its warm ambience, combined with tropical beauty, creates a welcoming atmosphere and offers a host of facilities, for an authentic yet comfortable stay on Barbados. Getting here is a 45-minute drive from the international airport.
From therapeutic massage, facials and manicures, to specially designed treatments, hydrotherapy sessions and body scrubs; there’s a full range of beauty treatments on offer at the Sugar Cane Spa; all carried out in tranquil surroundings to leave you feeling rejuvenated.
Guests can choose from 43 one-bedroom suites, one two-bedroom suite, a penthouse apartment and a villa. Suites have kitchenettes, queen beds, flat-screen satellite TVs, dressing tables, alarm clock radios and dining sets, to name a few, as well as a balcony/patio with garden views. The penthouse has two bedrooms, panoramic views, a full kitchen, dining and living area. The private villa is within walking distance of the hotel and has three bedrooms, its own private pool, kitchen, living and dining areas.
If you feel intrepid, guests can explore the surrounding landscape on the nearby nature trail, take a glass-bottom boat ride, go mountain biking, enjoy a tour around the island or the hotel’s shuttle service to the beach for sunbathing, swimming and water sports. The hotel also organised a trip to the island’s famous Oistins fish fry. Back at base, there’s the opportunity to work up a sweat in the gym, hone those guns in the weight-training area or thrash it out on the squash court before kicking back on a sun lounger after a dip in one of the hotel’s two pools. If you’d like a culture fix, guests can browse and buy artwork in the hotel’s very own Frangipani Art Gallery.
Guests at the Sugar Cane Hotel have three restaurants to choose from; one of which is only open on selected nights. The hotel’s main restaurant offers an extensive menu featuring local, Caribbean and international dishes, including fisherman’s catch of the day and Calypso chicken, and hosts regular buffet barbecue nights. There’s also the option for a light meal at Sandy’s Chattel Bar, or just a drink in the main bar which also has a lounge area.
