Royal Westmoreland is an exclusive Barbados estate and country club. A gated community of luxury homes and holiday villas with exceptional facilities, it includes the world-class Royal Westmoreland championship 18-hole golf course and is spread across 500 acres of lush tropical landscape in St James, overlooking the Platinum coast. The resort has set a new standard as the first in a new style of villa community away from the developments of the west coast.
Royal Westmoreland 18 holes · 6870 yards - 5486 yards · Par 72 This is Caribbean golf at its best, with the courses' elevated position giving it views out over the sea on virtually every hole. The course itself uses the local terrain quite beautifully with the 5th and 6th holes utilizing an old coralstone quarry, and several holes having carries over natural ravines. All around you are dazzled by the vibrant colours of the mature, blooming flora that can steal your gaze at any moment. It has hosted Seniors Tour events, and Ian Woosnam rates the par 3’s as the best in the world, however the many different tee positions make it playable for all.
Caribbean-style villas and townhouses are situated around Royal Westmoreland's 500 acres and championship golf course, offering beautiful views of the fairways and the coast. Many of the villas have been designed by renowned architects Ian Morrison and Larry Warren, using traditional features borrowed from Bajan plantation houses. A variety of villas are available, including three-bedroom Royal Villas with their own private swimming pools, air-conditioned rooms and en suite bathrooms.
One of Royal Westmoreland's greatest attractions is its seclusion from the tourist areas of the west coast. Located on a ridge overlooking the Caribbean Sea, this gated community is just a short drive inland, yet a world away from the bustle of the beachfront. Guests will keep busy on the 18-hole 72-par championship golf course and two floodlit tennis courts, and can relax in the three swimming pools and Jacuzzi. There's also a well-equipped gym and use of facilities at the Colony Club hotel.
Royal Westmoreland has a dining room in the Club House, which is open-sided and has lovely views of the final fairway. The Clubhouse Bar is open daily, while the Sanctuary Cafe serves light snacks, beers and soft drinks. On the golf course, the Halfway House on the ninth green is open daily and offers drinks and snacks from 6.30am to 4.30pm.
