Here you can stroll through the Santa Barbara Botanic Gardens or hike the nature trails in Los Padres National Forest. If you'd prefer to hit the beach, East Beach is popular with a young and trendy crowd, while Arroyo Burro is the place to head if you prefer fishing or whale watching. When you're done exploring, it's time to continue on to San Simeon for your overnight stay.
San Simeon – Monterey – San Francisco
This morning you'll take the scenic drive up the Pacific Coast toward Monterey, where you'll spend the afternoon enjoying this artisan city, which still boasts many buildings dating back to its foundation in the 18th century. In the early 20th century Monterey was renowned as the sardine capital of the Western Hemisphere; nowadays the old sardine factories have been converted into restaurants and boutiques. You might like to take a whale-watching trip, or perhaps make the famously scenic 17-mile drive up the coast to Pebble Beach to admire the lavish mansions. Finally, you'll continue on to San Francisco for a two-night stay.

Popular sights include picturesque Lombard Street, "the crookedest street in the world", and the shops and restaurants of Chinatown. You may like to visit Muir Woods National Monument, a grove of coastal redwoods, some of which are more than 1,000 years old, or take an optional excursion to the legendary island prison of Alcatraz.
San Francisco – Yosemite National Park – Fresno
Today you'll leave the bustle of San Francisco and drive towards the strikingly beautiful Yosemite National Park, to admire the imposing granite cliffs, huge waterfalls, rivers, meadows and groves of giant sequoia trees. After visiting the Valley Visitor Centre you can follow a self-guided trail, or join an optional two-hour Yosemite Valley Tour aboard an open-air tram, guided by Park Rangers.
Fresno – Las Vegas
This morning you'll leave the natural beauty and peace of Yosemite for the bright lights of Las Vegas. Here you can take a trip up to the top of the Stratosphere hotel tower, enjoy some luxurious shopping, take in a spectacular show or try your luck in the casinos.
Las Vegas - Los Angeles
This morning you'll depart Las Vegas and begin the drive back to Los Angeles.
