Overview
It's always good to take a tour during any holiday Down Under and on this wonderful 13 day trip you will discover all the delights of Australia's south east coast. Beginning in Adelaide and ending in Sydney, you travel to Kangaroo Island, along the stunning Great Ocean Road staying at pretty Apollo Bay before continuing to Melbourne, then on to beautiful Jervis Bay. There is never a dull moment on this action packed trip.
Day 1
Adelaide to Kangaroo Island
From Adelaide you fly to Kingscote on Kangaroo Island and on arrival collect your car. Kangaroo Island is the largest island off the South Australian coast and shows nature at its wildest and most majestic in a magical combination of sun and sea, native flora and fauna. The coastline of the island changes from the attractive curved beach at Emu Bay to the rugged cliffs and roaring surf of the south. On the west are two of the island’s natural wonders - Admirals Arch and the Remarkable Rocks.

Day 2
Kangaroo Island
There is a never ending list of things to do and see on Kangaroo Island and today you have time to explore the natural beauty of this island and discover Australian wildlife – in the wild! Highlights include Flinders Chase National Park, Kelly Hill Caves, the “Koala Walk” and seeing lots of seals at the aptly named.Seal Bay. There are lots of great beaches where you can relax in between sightseeing.

Day 3
Kangaroo Island to Adelaide
More time today to explore the island before dropping your vehicle off at Kingscote Airport for the return flight to Adelaide where the rest of the day is free for you to explore and see the sights. Adelaide is South Australia’s cosmopolitan coastal capital. Its ring of parkland on the River Torrens is home to renowned museums such as the Art Gallery of South Australia, displaying expansive collections including noted Indigenous art, and the South Australian Museum, devoted to natural history.

Day 4
Adelaide to Mount Gambier
Today you say farewell to Adelaide when you collect your car and take the Freeway directly to Murray Bridge and then onto Tailem Bend. Travel along the Coorong National Park skirting Lake Albert and Lake Alexandria. Travel on through Kingston and Robe and on to Mount Gambier, where you can visit the surrounding crater lakes and the Sunken Garden. A long drive today but great scenery all along the route.

Day 5
Mount Gambier to Halls Gap
Leaving Mount Gambier and South Australia today you travel into the state of Victoria and pass through the towns of Casterton, Coleraine, and Hamilton before reaching Dunkeld. From here a scenic drive will take you through the Grampians National Park and onto Halls Gap. Highlights within the Grampians include McKenzie Falls, Reids Lookout and the Balconies, and there are walks of varying length and difficulties to reach some of these points.

Day 6
Halls Gap
Explore the spectacular scenery that is the Grampians National Park. Take one of the many walks and remember your camera. The tourist village of Halls Gap is situated in the heart of the park and with its multitude of accommodation, eateries and shopping, is the perfect place to stay when exploring the ancient mountain ranges, natural flora and fauna, waterways and waterfalls and stunning views. The region’s fascinating aboriginal history is told through ancient rock art.

Day 7
Halls Gap to Warrnambool
A 150 mile drive today when you leave the Grampians National Park and travel via Dunkeld and Penhurst to reach Warrnambool, which marks the start of your memorable journey along the Great Ocean Road. If you wish to detour west, the seaside village of Port Fairy is located 20 miles from Warrnambool and is a quaint fishing village with sweeping sandy beaches, interesting buildings and some fine restaurants.

Day 8
Warrnambool to Apollo Bay
One of the natural highlights of the tour today when you leave Warrnambool and before arriving in Port Campbell you will see London Bridge – the broken arch in the sea. Then along what is commonly regarded as the ‘Shipwreck Coast’ you see the amazing rock formations of the Twelve Apostles, which are huge stone pillars sticking out of the surf, carved over time by the crashing Southern Ocean waves. Continue through the Otway National Park to Apollo Bay.

Day 9
Apollo Bay to Melbourne (187 km)
The scenic coastline from Apollo Bay to Lorne has been described as one of the most beautiful and breathtaking drives in the world. Near Lorne, visit the beautiful Erskine Falls, before following the coast road through Anglesea and Torquay, recognised as the surfing capital of Australia. From Torquay, travel north to Geelong, the largest provincial city in Victoria then drive along the freeway to cross the West Gate Bridge and arrive in the vibrant city of Melbourne.

Day 10
Melbourne to Lakes Entrance
Another long drive today when you leave the wonderful city of Melbourne and travel east along the Princes Highway through Drouin, Warragul, Moe and Morwell. Pass through Sale, a supply and residential centre for the Bass Strait oil fields, and Bairnsdale onto Lakes Entrance, where you stay tonight. Lakes Entrance is a unique area with rivers, lakes and lagoons joining 90 Mile Beach. Here you can explore the nearby village of Metung.

Day 11
Lakes Entrance to Merimbula
Depart Lakes Entrance and travel to Orbost, situated on the banks of the Snowy River. This is a Gippsland timber village which is surrounded by spectacular coastal and mountain territory. A further 75 kilometres is Cann River, excellent for its fishing and bush walking in the rugged hinterland. Continue driving along the Princes Highway crossing the Victorian and New South Wales border and onto Eden. To the south and north of Eden is the Ben Boyd National Park. Day 12
Merimbula to Jervis Bay
From Merimbula, take the coast road through Tathra and Tanja to Bermagui and be sure to stop in the quaint town of Tilba Tilba. Re-join the Princes Highway and travel onto Narooma, a popular fishing resort. Take the coast road again from Moruya to Batemans Bay. Batemans Bay is a picturesque coastal village known for its crayfish and oysters. Re-join the Princes Highway this morning as you depart Batemans Bay, travelling north to Ulladulla, and then take the turn-off for Huskisson and Jervis Bay. Nearby Hyams Beach, is known to have the whitest sand in the world. Jervis Bay is well known for its resident dolphin population and a dolphin cruise is a must.

Day 13
Jervis Bay to Sydney
On the final stretch of the journey you travel along the Grand Pacific Drive from Wollongong to Sydney. The road hugs the coastline with spectacular coastal scenery, and quaint villages to stop at along the way. The highlight is the impressive Sea Cliff Bridge between Clifton and Coalcliff. Travel through the Royal National Park before reaching Sydney, where there is so much to see and do it's worth staying for as long as you can.
