Adelaide & Kangaroo Island Escorted Tour

Description

This five day tour from Adelaide to the Barossa Valley and Kangaroo Island makes a great add on to any longer stay Down Under. You can soak up Adelaide’s colonial elegance in the spacious green parklands, bustling central markets and the museums and libraries of North Terrace, swim with dolphins in Glenelg, explore Hahndorf and other picturesque villages in the Adelaide Hills, and wind between world-class wineries in the nearby Barossa and Clare Valley. All this and a memorable trip to nearby Kangaroo Island makes this a wonderful tour.

Day 1
Welcome to Adelaide

On arrival in Adelaide you will be met at the airport or the railway station by one of our tour representatives and driven to your hotel in the city. The rest of the day is at leisure for you to explore on your own or take a tour. Adelaide has bags of colonioal elegance and its beautiful parks make a great place to relax and watch the world go by. Tonight try one of the many fine restaurants and get to know some of the great wines from the nearby Barossa Valley.

Day 2
The Barossa

Today you are taken to the Barossa Valley, which is Australia’s largest wine-producing region, boasting more than 100 vineyards. Sample wines at Jacob’s Creek Visitor Centre then travel to Mengler Hill Lookout for sweeping views over the valley and then on to Saltram Wine Estate to taste some of their quality wines. Visit the South Australian Company Store and Kitchen for a delicious lunch and tastings from two boutique wineries before winding your way through the picturesque hills to Hahndorf, Adelaide’s oldest German settlement, with time to explore the shops and galleries. Return to Adelaide late afternoon.

Day 3
Adelaide – Kangaroo Island

Enjoy a scenic coach drive today to Cape Jervis to board the ferry to Kangaroo Island. There you visit Clifford’s Honey Farm to enjoy an informative talk by the beekeeper and the chance to sample honey ice-cream. Then travel on to Vivonne Bay Bistro for a tasty two-course lunch. Then you are taken to walk among the nation’s most accessible colony of sea lions with a local guide at the popular Seal Bay Conservation Park. Your last stop is Kingscote to see the daily pelican feeding. Overnight Kangaroo Island.

Day 4
Kangaroo Island to Adelaide

First stop today is the Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery, where you can test the fascinating products. Then visit the Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park to feed kangaroos. See koalas at Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary, and then enjoy a delicious two-course lunch at Kangaroo Island Wilderness Retreat. Later, walk around the Remarkable Rocks and continue to Admiral’s Arch to see playful New Zealand fur seals resting on the rocks below. Return to Adelaide in the late evening.

Day 5

Today your short but exciting tour comes to an end where it began in Adelaide. You will be picked up from your hotel and taken to the train station or airport to catch an onward flight or begin your journey back home. Our flight from Manchester to Dubai was 2 hours late. This caused us to miss our connection in Dubai to Adelaide. Emirates then put us up in a hotel and we caught the next flight to Adelaide 24 hours later! This meant that we missed a day of the Ashes Test Match that we had gone to watch. Not impressed.

No problem with you but Cathay Pacific not the best! They messed up on the outward flight so I had a fair bit of stress and my suitcase didn't arrive until one day after me.
