The magnificent Cap Rocat hotel is housed in what was once a 19th-century Spanish fort. Now a 24-room hotel, it’s well situated in one of the most secluded bays of Palma de Mallorca, with spectacular sea views, and just 20 minutes from the airport. With its outdoor infinity pool overlooking the sea, flanked by comfy white leather sun beds, and gardens filled with palms and local plants, Cap Rocat oozes charm and style to offer the ultimate stylish, yet restful, getaway.
The hotel boasts 24 rooms, including 22 suites. All have plain white decor, with bright furniture and soft furnishings such as traditional rugs and luxurious drapes, as well as original artwork, adding pattern and colour. All the suites have are former shooting rooms, each with their own private patio and terrace. Views are either of the fortress itself, sea or Palma Bay.
Hone your backhand on one of the hotel’s tennis courts, or go snorkelling in the nearby marine reserve. The hotel also has mountain bikes for hotel guests to use and suggested route map. Other activities, such as Pilates, yoga, horse riding and diving, to name a few, can easily be arranged. Palma is a 15-minute drive away where you can browse the boutiques for beachwear, have a wave-side lunch and finish off with cocktails in one of the glitzy bars.
Linger over a Spanish/Mediterranean lunch or have a decadent dinner at the Fortress, set in one of the main pavilions, with dishes such as pimientos al piquillo (red pepper with cod and an aioli dressing). During summer months, eat more relaxed dishes such as salads, pasta, grilled meat and seafood at sea level in the Sea Club, an open-air restaurant by the waterfront in the Queen’s Cove. There’s no hotel bar, but you can order drinks to enjoy on the terrace, patio or lounge.
