The Louise is a ‘culinary destination’ offering luxury accommodation right at the heart of Australia’s celebrated wine-growing region, the Barossa Valley, home to over 100 wineries. You’ll be able to look out on the lush splendour of the surrounding vineyards, knowing that you’ll be sampling excellent local wines with dinner. Adelaide International Airport is just an hour’s drive away, or, if you’re feeling the luxury, you can arrange a helicopter transfer straight to the hotel.
The rooms all have their own spa tubs, so you can enjoy the spa experience in your own space. You can also arrange to have an in-room massage.
Guest can relax in one of the hotel’s 15 spacious contemporary suites, which come in a range of styles and layouts. All feature premium facilities, including flatscreen TV/DVD player, BOSE iPod docking station, free wifi, rain shower, two-person spa tub, kingsize bed with high-quality linen, minibar, Nespresso maker, complimentary port, cookies and fruit and a private terrace. At the top of the tree are the Seppeltsfield Suites, with both one- and two-bedroom options, which also provide a separate lounge, original artworks, a private sunning lounge and water feature, marble bathroom and outdoor rain shower. Note that children are welcome at the Louise, but must be aged 10 or over.
Wine-lovers will be in their element here, with vineyards aplenty to explore – the revered Seppeltsfield Estate, which offers tours and a very special ‘Taste Your Birth Year’ experience, is just a few minutes away. The wine theme continues, with the chance to try your hand in a winemaker’s laboratory and blend your very own cuvée. If you’d like to see the vineyards from the air, you can arrange a hot-air balloon trip, or to see Australia’s wildlife, try out the ‘Breakfast with the Kangaroos’ chauffeured tour. There’s also the opportunity to take part in an Italian cookery class at Casa Carboni cooking school, or to visit the Barossa Farmer’s Market along with the Louise’s chefs.
The hotel is home to a fine dining establishment, the aptly named Appellation. The award-winning food is prepared using local, seasonal ingredients under executive chef Ryan Edwards. As much as possible is done on the premises, so you’ll find freshly baked bread, home-cured meats, and veg from the hotel’s own garden. Guests can choose to eat à la carte, or from the chef’s Tasting Menu. One thing you know for sure – the accompanying wines will be good!
