A total renovation of the main building of the Peninsula hotel, which dates back to 1928, and the completion of a 32-storey tower extension, has brought one of the world's legendary hotels up to date. The hotel has welcomed many stars and still offers a superior experience for any traveller to Hong Kong, with its unique architecture and amenities.
The 300 air-conditioned guest rooms at the Peninsula hotel have European-influenced decor and Asian accents, and feature air conditioning, TVs with video and digital-camera playback, DVD players, silent fax machines, valet-call buttons and free high-speed internet access. The oversized marble bathrooms have separate showers and tubs, as well as built-in LCD TVs and hands-free phones.
The Roman-themed Peninsula Spa features a 60ft pool with waterfall, two spa tubs, and a sundeck overlooking the harbour, with a retractable glass screen to allow year-round use. The hotel's health centre offers facilities including saunas, steam rooms, spa tubs, and massage rooms. Guests can also play racquetball or squash, or enjoy a fitness class such as aerobics or yoga.
The Peninsula has a wide array of dining options, from Gaddi's with its French haute cuisine and fine wines, to Mediterranean cuisine in the relaxed setting of The Verandah. Cantonese, Japanese and Swiss restaurants also form part of the line-up, along with themed bars designed by Philippe Starck.
