Description

If your sole reason for visiting a national park in India is to see a magnificent tiger in the wild, then look no further than this great 10 day tour around Madhya Pradesh, which is king of the jungle when it comes to tiger parks. At the most famous, Kanha, you will also see leopards, monkeys and huge populations of deer while at nearby Bandhavgarh you will find the highest density of Royal Bengal tigers in the world. So prepare to follow in the footsteps of Rudyard Kipling and enjoy this memorable tour.

Day 1
Delhi

On arrival at New Delhi International Airport you will be met by one of our tour representatives and taken to your hotel in India's capital city. Relax after the journey then spend the rest of the day and the evening exploring this exciting city seeing some of the many iconic sights including the Red Fort, India Gate, and the colonial buildings. There are lots of guided tours that you can book at your hotel and it is probably best taking one of these to make the most of your limited time.

Day 2
Delhi - Jabalpur – Kanha

Today you are taken to the airport to board your flight to Jabalpur where you are met and driven the four hours to Kanha. On arrival at your hotel in Kanha you are in the central state of Madhya Pradesh. Kanha shelters one of the largest tiger’s populations in the country and other inhabitants of this national park include gaur, the largest of the world's cattle, the sambar, the largest Indian deer; and the chausingha, the only four-horned antelope in the world. The rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight in Kanha.

Day 3
Kanha

Get up early this morning for the first of your safari adventures. Yor are driven into the jungle with every chance of seeing some tigers before returning to the hotel for breakfast. Kanha is in the heart of Rudyard Kipling country and the nearby forests were the setting for the Jungle Book. After lunch at the hotel you are taken back for an evening jungle Safari when lots of the animals appear after the heat of the day. Return to the hotel for a traditional dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4
Kanha

Another early start this morning and another jungle safari in the national park with more chances to see lots of the magnificent tigers. The sal forests and vast meadows are also home to leopards and support huge populations of deer and antelope, including the rare barasingha deer. You’ll see plenty of langur monkeys, gaur (Indian bison), maybe even a family or two of wild boar and the odd lonesome jackal. The park is also home to more than 300 bird species. Overnight in Kanha.

Day 5
Bandhavgarh

After breakfast today there's a six hour drive to Bandhavgarh National Park where you check in to your hotel. This famous park is located at the Vindhya Hills in Madhya Pradesh. Known for its Royal Bengal Tigers, it was the former hunting preserve of the Maharaja of Rewa. The thick forest of the park sits in a bowl encircled by cliffs and wooded mountains, and its plains have a number of grass and reed covered wetlands where kingfishers dive and Egrets sit in the shallows. Up above, vultures nestle in holes in the sheer cliffs.

Day 6
Bandhavgarh

The usual routine this morning when you leave the hotel early for a jungle safari, this time in Bandhavgarh National Park. Today you should see plenty of tigers as well as other fascinating wildlife as you are guided through this beautiful area. Return to the hotel for a late breakfast then the rest of the day is free for you to relax or go out and explore the area on your own or on another tour. Dinner tonight is back at the hotel where you can try some of the regional dishes. Overnight in Bandhavgarh.

Day 7
Bandhavgarh

Lots of safari activities today in Bandhavgarh national park with an early morning trip into the jungle before breakfast and another one in the evening, when some of the animals are at their most active. The park's Tala Range boasts the highest density of Royal Bengal tigers in the world and is neck and neck with Rajasthan’s Ranthambhore National Park for sightings, making it India’s top tiger playground. There are also more than 40 rarely seen leopards and more commonly sighted animals such as deer, wild boar and langur.

Day 8
Jabalpur

This morning after breakfast you say farewell to India's premier tiger park and begin the 175 mile journey to Jabalpur where, on arrival, you check in to your hotel. Later you are taken for a tour of Jabalpur visiting the marble rocks, the Dhuandhar Falls, the Chausath Yogini Temple, the Tilwara Ghat, the Madan Mahal Fort and the medieval constructions of Sangram Sagar and Bajnamath. After this fascinating trip you return to your hotel for dinner and overnight in Jabalpur.

Day 9
Jabalpur – Delhi

This morning after breakfast at your hotel in Jabalpur you are picked up and driven to the airport for your flight to Delhi, where you will be met and transferred to you hotel for a one night stay. The rest of the day is free for you to go out and explore. If you have already visited the Red Fort, now may be a good time to stop at the world heritage site of the Qutab Minar, at Humayun's Tomb or the Rajghat, the place where Gandhi was cremated. In the evening dine out and try some of the local cuisine.

Day 10
End of tour

Today your wonderful tiger safari tour around two of India's most famous national parks comes to an end. Possibly time for some more sightseeing or last minute shopping in Delhi before you are picked up from your hotel and driven to the airport to catch an onward flight or begin your journey back home, taking with you so many fantastic memories of you time in the jungle hunting for those elusive tigers on a series of morning and evening game drives.

See what 140 customers thought of Delhi

At Zurich we had to take the train, travelator and also walk a lot. The two hour stopover was just enough. Anything less than that was not enough to cover the change

Delighted with the way they organised the flights to fit in with my requirements and the choice of hotels - except for one, Hong Kong's Mini hotel. My room on the 19th floor was miniscule. Asked for a bigger one and told they were all that size.

|
Flew to Delhi

It was all very good so thanks Kylie. One suggestion, the Radisson Blu in Muscat on a Friday afternoon/evening is not a pretty sight with ex-pats drinking in the pool, loud and generally smashed. Not your fault or the hotels but having the Friday buffet and an Irish bar did not help. Otherwise the flights, hotels and arrangements all perfect
