It would have been helpful to have known that we needed to collect luggage on outbound journey and understand the logistics of having to change terminals on both journeys. Just little things but useful as we had never undertaken a journey with connecting flights - we have only been ‘in transit’.

We weren't able to checkin in advance with Indigo as it was flight share with Virgin Atlantic - Goa, Mumbai, London Heathrow. However, at the airport there is an Indigo office outside the terminal that gives one the paperwork to get in and then you get boarding passes once inside and again in Mumbai. The weight limit for domestic is 15kg and we had 18 and 21 Kg but as the international weight limit is 23kg, we were not charged. Useful for others to know if buying presents.
