Starting out in Tromso in Northern Norway, this five-day trip takes you across spectacular frozen tundra, past mountains and fjords, to Sweden and ends with a stay at the stunning Icehotel. Along the way, you'll have the chance to ride a snowmobile or husky sled and spot the Northern Lights, as well as plenty of opportunities to take in the breathtaking scenery.
Today your trip begins as you arrive in Tromso and transfer to your hotel. Time permitting, this evening you may like to join an optional tour to get your first glimpse of the Northern Lights.
Today you can choose your own Arctic adventure from a selection of optional excursions. You may like to take a snowmobile safari, or ride on a sled pulled by huskies, before an evening admiring the Northern Lights.
After breakfast this morning you'll take the four-hour bus journey to Narvik, through the glacial valleys and fjords of the Troms region. On arrival, you'll check in to your hotel then have the rest of the day at leisure. You may like to visit the Ofoten Museum, or take the cable car to the top of Narvikfjellet to enjoy the panoramic views of Ofotfjord. As you're now 250 miles north of the Arctic Circle, this evening you have an excellent chance of spotting the Northern Lights.
The Arctic Train & ICEHOTEL
Today you'll board the Ofoten Line and Arctic Circle train for a stunning three-hour journey – one of the world's most northern railway journeys. You'll travel alongside the Ofotfjord fjord, then cross Abisko National Park to arrive at the former mining town of Kiruna, where you'll be met and transferred to the Icehotel. Here you can enjoy a drink in the Icebar and admire the ice sculptures. Your bed for tonight will be made of ice, covered with reindeer skins and a cosy sleeping bag.
First thing this morning you'll enjoy a warming hot berry juice and a rejuvenating sauna before breakfast. You'll then transfer to Kiruna Airport for your flight back to the UK, via Stockholm.
