Overview
Mexico is a truly magical destination and on this superb nine day tour you will so much of the country and meet the friendly people. Beaches, mountains, deserts and jungles, Mexico has them all, as well as lots of fascinating ancient ruins and Spanish colonial-era towns. And in the bustling capital Mexico City, where your adventure begins, you will find upscale shops, renowned museums, parks and zoos and plenty of gourmet restaurants.
Day 1
Arrive Mexico City
After arriving at the international airport you transfer to the hotel Casa Blanca, or similar, in the heart of the city. Just a six-minute walk to the nearest metro station, this smart hotel in a modern tower is also close to the cultural centre of Palacio de Bellas Artes and the archaeological museum Templo Mayor. Relax beside the rooftop pool after the journey then go out and explore seeing some of the amazing sights and trying the local cuisine at one of the many nearby restaurants.

Day 2
Queretaro and San Miguel de Allende
Today after breakfast you say farewell to Mexico City to begin the 200 mile drive to Queretaro, the capital of the state of Queretaro which was of major importance during the Independence wars. Spend some time seeing the sights then drive for another hour to San Miguel de Allende. Explore this colonial city with its beautiful mansions and it’s symbol - the Gothic style cathedral. Then check into your next hotel, the Real de Minas or similar.

Day 3
San Miguel de Allende to Guanajuato
This morning leave for Dolores Hidalgo then carry on to Guanajuato, which is an an hour's drive away, and have a tour of the city. Here you can admire the Basílica, the university; the picturesque, historic centre with its narrow colonial roads, the underground streets (former riverbeds); the famous Callejón del Beso (The Alley of the Kiss) and enjoy a panoramic view from the El Pipila monument. Then check in to your next hotel, the Misión Guanajuato or similar.

Day 4
Guanajuato to Zacatecas
Leave Guanajuato after breakfast at your hotel and travel on to Zacatecas. On arrival first visit the historical centre and the Cathedral, one of the pearls of Mexican baroque architecture, which was built in rose stone during the XVIII century. Then stop at the Plaza de Las Armas, the Cerro de la Bufa hill where you get great views over the entire city and the Mine of Edén. Then it's time to check in to the hotel Emporio or similar where you spend the fourth night of the tour.

Day 5
Zacatecas to Guadalajara
Leave Zacatecas and begin the five hour scenic drive to Guadalajara, which is known as the Pearl of the Occident because of its natural beauty. When you arrive visit the neighbourhood of Tlaquepaque famous for manufacturing the finest handicrafts in the state. Then stop at the borough of San Pedro Tlaquepaque, once an independent village and now a part of the city, whose inhabitants are skilled in glassblowing and a variety of arts and crafts. This is a good place to buy souvenirs of your holiday. Overnight at the Hotel Morales.

Day 6
Guadalajara
Today you visit of the historical centre and see the Teatro Degollado, the Palacio de Gobierno, the cathedral, the Rotonda de los Hombres Ilustres monument and later visit to the Hospicio Cabañas. Then travel out of Guadalajara for the Tequila region, home of the ancient and famous Mexican drink. At the Tequila village enjoy a demonstration of the whole manufacturing process in one of the best distilleries. Return to Guadalajara for another overnight stay.

Day 7
Guadalajara to Puerto Vallarta
A long journey today when you travel the 300 miles on a deluxe coach from Guadalajara to Puerto Vallarta for a two night stay at the Krystal Hotel. This modern beachfront hotel is between Playa Camarones and the Malecón boardwalk. Relaxed rooms have balconies or terraces and suites feature separate living rooms and kitchenettes, and share a private pool. There are Japanese and Italian restaurants and two bars, plus a poolside eatery and a cafe. Other amenities include a gym and a spa.

Day 8
Puerto Vallarto
A free day to relax in and around the Krystal Hotel, take a trip to the nearby beach, or explore the town. Stretching around the sparkling blue Bahia de Banderas and backed by lush palm-covered mountains, Puerto Vallarta (or just Vallarta to many) is one of Mexico's most enticing coastal destinations. Every year millions come to laze on the dazzling sandy beaches, browse in the quirky shops, eat in the stylish restaurants and wander the picturesque streets.

Day 9
End of tour
Today your wonderful tour around Mexico comes to an end. There is lots to see and do in Puerto Vallarta including horseback riding and diving trips and you may like to try one or more of these activities or some last minute sightseeing or shopping before checking out of the Krystal Hotel and heading to the airport to catch an onward flight and see more of Central America or begin your journey home. This short tour makes a great introduction to this fascinating country.
