Overview
Tasmania revels in its splendid isolation, and today this beautiful island is bursting with fabulous festivals and sensational food and drink and riding a tourism-fuelled economic boom that's the envy of the rest of Australia and New Zealand. And on this wonderful four day walking tour along the stunning east coast, which begins and ends in the capital city Hobart, you will see so many of the highlights and all of the stunning natural beauty.
Day 1
Hobart to Freycinet
This tour begins in the capital city Hobart where you begin with a walk seeing all the sights before beginning the scenic journey to Coles Bay, with great views of the Freycinet peninsula across Great Oyster Bay. After morning tea at Spikey Bridge join the Naturaliste boat for a sea cruise to Schouten Island looking out for playful pods of dolphins. Return to Friendly Beaches Lodge for a three course evening meal with fine wine and Tasmanian spirits. If weather conditions prevent the cruise, you will be taken to visit stunning Sleepy Bay to watch marine life.

Day 2
Freycinet
Rise with the sun for another boat adventure along the Peninsula, then choose from one of two amazing walks. One is along the peaceful coast from Bryan's Beach through sclerophyll forests and along secluded beaches and ends at the famous Wineglass Bay. For those seeking a serious challenge, opt for the ascent from Cook's Beach to the top of Mt Graham for views of The Hazards' dusky pink rock outcrops, before descending to Wineglass Bay via the spectacular Quartzite Ridge. Back at the lodge, enjoy hot showers, warm baths and a stretch on the bushside infinity deck before drinks and dinner.

Day 3
Freycinet
Enjoy a hearty breakfast before transferring to secluded Bluestone Bay for the start of today's walk. Explore the fascinating geology of White Water Wall and little Bluestone Bay before climbing to the cliff tops. Journey back to the lodge on foot, following an ancient track through sacred bushland once followed by the Oyster Bay Tribe. The headland here is home to a stunning array of native plants. Continue along the white sands of Friendly Beaches, enjoying a dip in the sparkling ocean, then back at the lodge cool drinks and homemade afternoon tea await. End the day savouring a well-deserved meal.

After breakfast you have the option of taking a walk along the fossil-rich ridgeline of Mt Mary and a descent to Saltwater Lagoon or you can relax on the beach, take a dip, or do some yoga on one of the decks. After a delicious brunch, where experiences of the past four days are shared, take a final stroll along Friendly Beaches to Isaac's Point, the meeting place foryour bus trip back to Hobart where you are dropped off at your hotel.

First it was all about apples . . . but now the Apple Isle's contribution to world food extends to premium seafood, cheese, bread, honey, nuts, stone fruit, craft beer, whisky and intensely flavoured cool-climate wines. Many smaller producers are owned and operated by passionate foodies and Tasmania is seemingly made for a driving holiday visiting farm-gate suppliers and providores. After you’ve sampled the produce on this great tour, book tables at a few good restaurant and see how the local chefs transform it.
