This exciting trekking trip makes a great add on to any holiday in Thailand and will leave you with lots of great memories. You can travel up to the north of the country by plane or train, before or after a traditional beach holiday of city break. And once at Chaing Mai you will be taken to stay at hilltribe villages, spending the nights in traditional lodges and experiencing life with the local families.
Chiang Mai to Lahu Outpost
You are picked up from the hotel in Chiang Mai and taken in an open truck to Pha Mieng - a journey of around one and a half hours. Here start walking along the jungle trails to the remote village of Hmong Pha Mieng and meet the inhabitants of this small village in the jungle. Enjoy a picnic lunch and then trek to the top of the mountain, along a ridge and on to the Lahu Village of Kup Kap, from where you have a spectacular view of Chiang Mai town glittering at night in the distance. Dinner and overnight stay at a typical Lahu village house.
Lahu Outpost to Lisu Lodge
After breakfast, take a one and a half hour walk down a steep jungle path passing by Huay Sadhan Waterfall, followed by a rafting trip down the river for about 45 minutes. Then back to Lisu Lodge by local truck with a stop en route at a tea plantation. After check-in select an activity for the following morning. Then start a walk from Ton Lung temple guided by Lisu villagers to visit the herbal garden. Dinner tonight is back at the lodge with a traditional Lisu dance show.
Lisu Outpost to Chiang Mai
After breakfast at the lodge you have a choice of activites. There is a guided bike tour around the Lisu Lodge area, steam bath or massage or an ox-cart ride through farmlands and orchards to the Thai Village of Baan Pang Mai Daeng. If you want to head off on your own bicycles are available at the lodge. After lunch today you are taken back to Chiang Mai by truck where your adventure comes to an end. This short tour makes a super addition to any longer holiday in Thailand and is something completely different.
