While visiting China you really must spend some time with those adorable pandas. And on this four day stopover in Chengdu, capital of the Sichuan Province, known as China's Heavenly State, you will get up close to them in their natural habitat. And after spending a memorable day with pandas and touring a Giant Panda Bear research centre, you spend the next day exploring the beautiful countryside where two branches of the Yangtze River connect to 40 other rivers and provide a great natural spectacle.
On arrival at Chengdu airport you will be met by one of our experienced tour representatives and taken to your hotel in the city. The rest of the day is free for you to go out and explore on your own, see some of the local sights and dine at one of the fine restaurants in the city.
Chengdu Panda experience
A highlight of the stopover when you visit the Chengdu Panda Base and Sanxingdui Museum Giant Panda Bear Research Centre. Most of the giant pandas are housed in individual enclosures made up of an indoor room and outdoor courtyard. See the animals close up, watch them eat and play and learn all about them. After lunch at a local restaurant visit the local museum near to an archaeological site that dates back to the Neolithic period and see lots of the precious objects discovered there. Tonight you are again free to explore and dine on your own
After breakfast at your hotel you are taken for a fascinating full day visit to Leshan home of the famous giant Bhudda, where you will discover the most beautiful landscapes in all of the province. Famous for its abundance of Chinese flowering crab apple trees, it was long ago given the title of fragrant city. This area is popular with tourists from all over the world and has a wealth of cultural relics. After a full day tour, which includes lunch at a local restaurant, you will be taken back to Chengdu.
End of tour
Today your wonderful visit to see the pandas and the beauty of the Chengdu region comes to an end. Possibly time for some more exploration of the city and shopping before you are picked up at your hotel and taken back to the airport to catch an onward flight or begin your journey back home.
