The Anantara Banana Island is a brand new resort just 20 minutes from the heart of Qatar’s vibrant capital, Doha, offering guests a paradise in which to relax, unwind and enjoy some true Qatarian hospitality amid Arabian-inspired surroundings. With an emphasis on tranquility, the resort is set on its own island; accomodation surrounded by lush landscape and the breathtaking blue sea just moments away. To get here, it’s a short journey on a luxury yacht ferry from Doha. Or you might prefer to take a helicopter.
There are 141 rooms, suites, pool and water villas to choose from, all setting the perfect scene for either a family or group break, or a romantic holiday. All have a contemporary décor that blends modern elements with traditional Arabian-style features such as fretwork furniture and vibrant splashes of bright orange and turquoise. Deluxe sea view rooms have a private terrace with table and chairs, king bed, a lounge with arm chairs, large bathroom with tub, shower and two sinks, iPod docking station and a flat-screen TV. Suites have more space, including a separate lounge, while villas have two or three bedrooms for bigger groups.
Bask on the resort’s private 800m-long beach, take a dip in the 100m-long lagoon pool, or master the waves in its surf simulator pool. There’s also the chance to try your hand at one of the many water sports activities on offer, such as snorkeling or scuba diving during which you’ll also get an insight into the area’s rich and varied marine life. Head to the fitness centre or tennis court for a proper workout, or if you fancy a bit of entertainment, you’re spoilt for choice, with everything from bowling, golf, cinema and shopping nearby.
Although the hotel might not serve alcohol, this won’t impair your enjoyment of its restaurants, which offer world-class cuisine including Middle Eastern delicacies, Italian classics as well as a delicious and refreshing selection of mocktails to be enjoyed alongside some shisha.
