The Old Woolstore occupies a prime location on Sullivans Cove in the lively city of Hobart – just minutes from the city centre and close to the hip waterfront area. Behind this historic building’s National Trust-listed façade lies a fine aparthotel that will suite business and leisure travellers well – it’s close to the business district as well as Hobart’s many sites of interest. It takes about 25 minutes to reach it by taxi from Hobart Airport.

Room Description

At the Woolstore, you can choose to stay in a fully serviced hotel room, or opt for one of the studio, one- or two- bed or executive spa apartments. Hotel rooms are fresh and comfortable, with air-conditioning, wifi, work desk, TV and DVD player and minibar, and can be configured to meet your particular needs. Apartments are set up for longer stays, with a kitchenette, living area and dining area. All except studios have wifi, and the executive spa apartments, set on the top floor, also have extras such as a corner spa bath, from which you can view the large TV.

You’ll never be short of something to do here as you can walk to many renowned attractions, such as the Botanical Gardens, Hobart Aquatic Centre, the Theatre Royal, Domain Tennis Centre, Battery Point and Grand Chancellor Hotel Federation Concert Hall and Convention Centre. Other options include a visit to MONA (Museum of Old and New Art), Salamanca Market or Cadbury Visitor Centre, or take a cruise round Peppermint Bay, Port Arthur or Bruny Island. Wine lovers can simply walk across the road to Gasworks Cellar Door, for some expert guidance on Tasmania’s much-admired wines.

On the ground floor you’ll find Stockmans Restaurant, which specialises in high-quality dishes blending old and new – in this case traditional Tasmanian ingredients and techniques with a twist. Dishes may include free-range chicken marinated in Franks Tasmanian apple cider or a Goan fish coconut curry made with Tasmanian seafood. And who could resist ‘Bad Boy’ beer-battered fries? Baaa Bar is the place to sample a range of Tasmanian wines and premium beers.
