Located in the Sabi Sands Game Reserve within the Kruger National Park in South Africa, award-winning Sabi Sabi Earth Lodge has been called one of the most environmentally sensitive lodges in Africa. The low buildings are designed to merge into their surroundings, with a raw, natural finish made from a mix of straw, stone and pigment that makes them almost invisible against the bush vegetation.
There are 14 suites at Sabi Sabi Earth Lodge, all individually decorated with contemporary furnishings, animal hides and eye-catching wooden sculptures, creating a stylish twist on the authentic safari lodge look. For a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience, opt for the one Presidential Suite, which has a private study, its own steam room, a kitchenette and dining area. All have their own plunge pools.
Spot the ‘big five’ on a game drive in open-sided vehicles by day and at night, head out on a guided walking safari, gaze in awe at the stars, or learn how to capture the wildlife on a photographic safari. The lodge has it own hydrotherapy baths and Jacuzzi and there’s also a pool, meditation garden, library and fitness centre.
Meals are served outdoors beside the waterhole and overlooking miles of untouched bush. At night, the brazier is lit to keep you warm and lanterns twinkle like the canopy of stars overhead. You can choose from healthy options and indulgent treats, and the underground wine cellar has more than 6,000 wines.
