This evening you will have the chance to visit and eat with a local family in Hanoi in their own home.
You are picked up from your hotel by a student from the Hanoi University. It is here that the Students in Free Enterprise Organisation was founded. This was set up to show visitors the true Hanoi way of life and promote interaction with the older generations to share their life experiences and stories.

Travel by taxi with the student to the family’s house and on arrival the owners will show you around. They will explain the function of the alter or ancestor room, a common trait in nearly all Vietnamese households. Then enjoy a traditional Vietnamese dinner as the hosts introduce each famous dish. Later you have tea with the family and hear some traditional folk stories and traditional songs.

There are so many must-do things while visiting the country, and watching a performance of Hanoi's famed Water Puppets is certainly one of them. In the evening you will be met at your hotel by a guide and driven to the Water Puppet theatre in downtown Hanoi. Over 10 centuries old, the art of water puppetry first appeared in the Ly dynasty between 1010 and 1225.

It originated in the Red River Delta area and originally depicted the daily life of villagers including farming, fishing, romance and children playing. These days the performances have evolved to also include ancient legends, myths and history. The performance runs for approximately 50 minutes, after which you will be met by your guide and taken back to your hotel.
