Sacha Lodge Amazon

Description

Sacha Lodge, in Ecuador's Amazon Basin, is a 5,000-acre private reserve beside the River Napo, and accessible only by river. The lodge has 26 comfortable and spacious rooms and offers three and four night inclusive programmes. This is the perfect place to view wildlife in its natural, pristine habitat and learn about the ecosystems of the Neotropics from naturalist and native Quichua guides. Since opening in 1992, Sacha Lodge sustains a healthy balance between economic development, rainforest conservation, local human advancement and respect for local culture.

Day 1
Arrive Sacha Lodge

The journey to Sacha Lodge begins in Ecuador's capital city Quito and a 25 minute flight takes you over the spectacular snow-covered peaks of the Andes Mountains into the Amazon Basin region of the country. On arrival at Coca airport you will be met by a guide before boarding your covered motorised canoe for the two hour trip along the the Napo river. During the journey you see villagers along the banks and lots of exotic birds and animals. Finally, take a paddle canoe deeper into the rainforest, arrive at the lodge, and settle in.

Day 2
Sacha Lodge

Your first full day to enjoy all that this wonderful lodge has to offer. Sacha Lodge was carefully designed to offer comfort to the traveller while preserving the rainforest environment and ambience. All the cabins, that have high thatched roofs and private shady terraces with hammocks, have been built with traditional materials and sit well concealed in the lush surroundings. Begin your wildlife and exotic bird viewing with guided trips into the dense jungles and in between relax back at the lodge.

Day 3
Sacha Lodge

Another memorable day at Sacha Lodge. Sacha is home to eight species of monkeys, ranging from tiny pygmy marmosets to howlers, as well as more than 60 other mammal species, colourful poison dart frogs and in excess of 600 species of birds The Canopy Walkway, which is 275m long and 36m high, is unique in Ecuador and one of very few of its kind in the world. Other attractions include a Butterfly farm, Tree Tower, built around an enormous Kapok tree, canoe excursions through flooded forests and lake swimming pool.

Day 4
End of tour

Your final day at the lodge so make the most of your time enjoying more of the rainforest activities and seeing the myriad of Ecuadorian Amazon wildlife. Several trails from the lodge lead through pristine forest where 150 foot kapok trees tower above and roots form huge buttresses. Others follow strategically raised boardwalks over the flooded terrain and there is even a zipline over some of the swampland. Later today you are picked up from Sacha to begin the reverse journey back to Quito.

Well done - great trip!

Everything worked out just fine!

Flew to Quito

One of our connecting flights was cancelled, you informed us very quickly and we were able to resolve it with the airline at Heathrow before starting our outbound journey. If we'd found out later it would probably have resulted in losing a couple of days of our holiday. The hotel you sorted out in Quito was excellent (apart from the broken lift!)

Always good service - never been disappointed. This is my fifth or sixth time I've used DialAFlight. It's so nice to speak to someone who can answer all your questions and know you can ring at any time for support from a pleasant and efficient team member.

We forgot to check In online for the return journey. Assumed we couldn't, only to find all 6 seats apart from 2 dotted all over the plane for flight from Bogota to London.

Don't use Iberia for long flights. It was very poor.

Gavin always understands exactly what I want, and delivers. Quick, no fuss, good price and the reassurance of actually talking to a real person! Recommended flights were excellent (Avianca) though some people may find the food limited - good quality, but not a great quantity. As I have a small appetite, this wasn't a problem for me. Otherwise, perfect.

I had a very complex itinierary in South America in just under three weeks and my sales advisor was able to accomodate it all without hesitation. In addition, we needed to contact your offices whilst on holiday and the out of hours service was very prompt and got us the relevant documents immediately. I have returned with amazing memories of a fantastic once in a lifetime trip, thank you.
