Few places in the world possess a more mystical pull than Rapi Nui, or Easter Island as it is more often called. When visiting this tiny speck of land, one of the most isolated places on Earth, it's hard to feel connected to Chile which is more than 3,000 miles to the east, let alone the wider world. Endowed with the most logic-defying statues on the planet, this island emanates a magnetic, mysterious vibe and on this fascinating five day visit you can experience all of its savage beauty.
Day 1
Arrive Hanga Roa
After your flight from Chile touches down at the main village, Hanga Roa, you will be met and taken to your hotel which will be home for the next four days. Hanga Roa is Easter Island's commercial hub and its only village. There are several restaurants and it makes the perfect base for island adventures, which can include trekking, exploring lovely white-sand beaches, snorkelling, diving and visiting the archaelogical sites where you find those iconic statues.

Day 2
Moais Route and Anakena Beach
Today you take the Moais Route around Easter Island on a full day tour which includes visits to ancient ruins, volcanoes and beaches as well as spending time at the sites of some of the monolithic heads that have made this island so famous. In the afternoon you have plenty of time to chill out on Anakena Beach, which is the main beach on the island. This is a true paradise, with white and fine coral sand, crystalline turquoise sea, calm waters, calm waves and coconut palms.

Day 3
Rauo Kao Volcano and Orongo
Today after breakfast you have more arranged tours - one to the Rano Kao volcano and another to Orongo. This volcano forms the southwestern headland of Easter Island and has a crater lake which is one of the island's only three bodies of fresh water. Then at Orongo you visit a stone village and ceremonial centre which is also at the southwestern tip of Rapa Nui. It consists of a collection of low, sod-covered, windowless, round-walled buildings with very low doors.

Day 4
Aku Akivi.
Another archaelogical site to visit today at Ahu Vinapu. In the afternoon after lunch you can take a tour of Ahu Akivi and the quarry of Puna Pau. The ceremonial centre of Vinapu includes one of the larger ahu on Rapa Nui. The ahu exhibits extraordinary stonemasonry consisting of large, carefully fitted slabs of basalt. While on Easter Island you are never far away from one of those famous stone heads with long ears and on this final full day you see lots more of them.

Today your memorable stay and tour around one of the world's most fascinating and mysterious islands comes to an end. See some more of the sights and buy some souvenirs of your visit before you are taken to the airport to catch your flight back to the mainland. This wonderful five day trip to one of the remotest islands on Earth makes a great add on to any longer stay in Chile and is a real must for those tourists with a real sense of adventure.

Spellbinding Easter Island, or Rapa Nui as it is called, will capture your heart and soul in the four days you have there. This tiny speck of land is one of the most isolated places on Earth and is blessed with an extraordinary collection of archaeological sites, including the iconic moai scattered amid an eerie landscape. These enigmatic giant statues are shrouded with an aura and form the island's most enduring images. But Rapa Nui is much more than a mind-boggling open-air museum, it is a superb playground.
