Overview
You don't have to be a nature lover to get the most out of this spectacular tour of Brazil, but it certainly helps. Over 10 memorable days you will see so many natural wonders and the Naturalist tour itinerary will highlight all Brazil's abundant ecological beauty and diversity. The tour takes travellers not only to the Amazon, the world's greatest river, but to the equally impressive Pantanal region in the south of the country. Add to this a visit to the amazing Iguassu Falls on the borders of Argentina and Paraguay and you have a trip that would make even David Attenborough jealous.
Day 1
Manaus
After arriving in Manaus, the capital of Amazonas, the largest state in Brazil, you will soon appreciate how this modern city is the ideal place to begin exploring the Amazon. Tour boats leave Manaus to see the Meeting of the Waters, where the black waters of the Negro River meet the light waters of the Solimoes River, flowing side by side without mixing for several miles. You can also explore river banks and swim and canoe in placid lakes or simply walk in the lush forest. Overnight at the Tropical Manaus Hotel.

Also see the Teatro Amazonas Opera House, the main tourist spot in the city. In the afternoon, board the Amazon Clipper Premium boat, for a three night all inclusive cruise into the Amazon rain forest.

After dinner on board enjoy a night trip to see Caymans and possibly frogs, sloth, snakes and other species.

Today you sail to Praia Grande with the chance to relax and swim off a white-sand beach. Take a canoe trip on Lake Acajatuba to see typical flora - rubber trees, Brazil nuts, and palms - and go fishing for piranhas. After lunch stop at the Paricatuba community to see old, abandoned rubber-boom buildings, now overgrown with strangler fig trees, or take a canoe trip in the Jacareubal area. Dinner and overnight aboard the Clipper.

Day 6
Pantanal
Along with the Amazon Basin, the Pantanal is one of the last virgin areas on the face of the earth. A huge lowland plain, it is entirely overgrown by luxuriant vegetation dotted by thousands of rainbow coloured flowers which bloom during the rainy season. It shelters innumerable rivers and crystal clear lakes. Along their shores are rare species of animals such as jaguars, peccaries, bob-cats, wild boars and flocks of ducks. Today you transfer to Pousada Rio Mutum passing through the small village of Mimoso on the way. Afternoon with activities at the pousada where you stay full board.
