Cuiaba to Pousada Rio Mutum
After your arrival in the town of Cuiaba in the middle of Brazilian cattle country, you are met and taken to the Pousada Rio Mutum. On the way pass through the small village of Mimosa and see some of the huge array of bird life and animals of the Pantanal. After settling in and having an introduction to the lodge and area around it, enjoy a delicious piranha soup before dinner. Later find out about all the activities you can take part in during your stay.
Pousada Rio Mutum
After breakfast go for a horseback trail ride in the jungle up to the edge of Sia Mariana Bay. On the way you will see lots of reptiles, animals and exotic birds. Return to the lodge for lunch and in the afternoon enjoy a boat safari on the Mutum River. In the crystal clear waters you can see giant otters, stingrays and shoals of small fish. Return to the lodge for dinner then go out on an exciting nocturnal animal spotting adventure by jeep in the surrounding area.
Pousada Rio Mutum
In the morning there is an ecological walk through the jungle and open fields where you will see lots of wildlife. The Pantanal has the largest diversity of bird species in the world and is a Twitchers dream location. Have lunch back at the lodge then take a boat trip to Sia Mariana and Chacorore Bays stopping to see the sunset and catch some piranha. In the evening before dinner go cayman feeding using the piranhas you caught as bait.
Pantanal to Cuiaba
Rise early and make the most of your last day in the Pantanal. Before breakfast take a canoe out on the Mutum River to see the sunrise and the wildlife at the break of dawn. You will be picked up later and taken back to Cuiaba where the tour ends. The capital of Mato Grosso state, Cuiabá is a modern, pleasant city with lots to do and see. Check out the three spacious shopping malls, amazing restaurants, late night clubs and a beautiful open downtown centre where you can find live music and street vendors.
