Overview
This tour of the beautiful and fascinating country of Argentina packs a lot into its 12 days, from cultural tours of the vibrant capital Buenos Aires and Salta City, to visits to wineries and olive-oil producers, from shows celebrating tango and gaucho culture, to visits to spectacular natural features such as the magnificent Iguassu Falls and the colourful mountains of Purmamarca in the North West region.
Day 1
Buenos Aires
You’ll be met on arrival at Ezeiza International Airport and transferred to your hotel.

Day 2
Buenos Aires
After breakfast this morning you’ll tour the most impressive sights of the cosmopolitan Argentinean capital. You’ll take in the beautiful parks and gardens of Palermo, Recoleta’s French-style architecture, and the imposing Teatro Colón, one of the world’s most important opera houses. You’ll visit the Plaza de Mayo (May Square), where you’ll take in the Government's House, The Old Cabildo (Town Hall) and the Metropolitan Cathedral, then continue to San Telmo, residence of the aristocracy until the 19th century. Finally, you’ll head to colourful La Boca, and fashionable Port Madero, with its many bars and restaurants. You’ll then have the afternoon at leisure to explore, before dinner and a visit to a thrilling tango show.

Day 3
Buenos Aires
You have the whole day at leisure today to explore the city. You may like to take an optional trip to the city of Tigre and the Paraná River delta, for a boat tour through the northern suburbs of Buenos Aires, where the President's Major House is located. Alternatively, you could enjoy a gaucho-themed tour, which includes a reception with empanadas (meat pies) and asado (roast meat), washed down with Argentinean wines, which you can enjoy while you’re entertained with folk songs and dances and an exhibition of gaucho skills, including riding, taming and the use of the lasso.

Day 4
Buenos Aires - Mendoza
This morning you’ll transfer to the airport for your flight to Mendoza, then continue to your hotel. In the afternoon, you’ll take a tour of the city, which was founded by Spaniards more 400 years ago. You’ll visit Independence Square, the Aquarium, General San Martin Park and the Cerro de la Gloria, from where you can enjoy the panoramic views of the city – don’t forget your camera! You have the evening at leisure.

Day 5
Mendoza
Today you’ll learn more about Mendoza’s world-famous wines, with a tour of some of the local vineyards and, of course, plenty of opportunities to taste their wares. You’ll enjoy lunch at Familia Zuccardi Restaurant, amid the vineyards, and will have a chance to taste different varieties of olive oil, along with delicious regional food and fine wines. Afterwards, you’ll have the rest of the afternoon and the evening at leisure.

Day 6
Mendoza
You’ll set off early this morning, heading west towards the Andes Mountain Range. You’ll take in the superb view of Mount Aconcagua – the highest peak in America – and visit Chacras de Coria, Potrerillos Valley, Uspallata Valley, Penitentes Ski Resort, and the striking Inca’s Bridge, a natural formation made of rock and sulphur, as well as the border village of Las Cuevas. Weather and road conditions permitting, you’ll visit the Christ the Redeemer of the Andes monument, 4,200 metres above sea level. You’ll return to your hotel by late afternoon and have the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 7
Mendoza - Salta
You’ll check out of your hotel after breakfast this morning and transfer to Mendoza airport for your flight to Salta. After checking in to your hotel here, you’ll take a city tour, to learn more about Salta’s colonial past. Your tour will include churches and colonial houses, as well as historic landmarks including the Old Cabildo (Town Hall), the Cathedral, San Francisco Church and San Bernardo Convent. From the top of San Bernardo Hill you’ll take in the stunning panoramic view of the city and the Lerma Valley. You’ll visit San Lorenzo ravine, then, on the way back to town, you’ll stop off at the local handicraft market. This evening, you’ll enjoy dinner at La Vieja Estación, accompanied by local music and dances.

Day 8
Salta - Humahuca - Salta
Today you’ll enjoy a full-day excursion to Humahuaca. En route you’ll first stop at San Salvador de Jujuy, the capital of Jujuy province, Here you’ll visit the 18th-century cathedral, known for its carved wooden pulpit, the 19th-century Cabildo (old town hall), Lavalle Museum and the Government House. You’ll then continue to Purmamarca (2,274 metres above sea level), known for its spectacularly colourful mountains. You’ll visit the Cabildo (old town hall), the handicrafts market, the 17th-century church and an ancient carob tree. Afterwards you’ll continue to Tilcara, a village built of sun-baked clay bricks, known for its fortress, from which you can take in the stunning views. You’ll visit the local archaeological museum, before continuing to Uquia to visit the chapel, declared a National Historical Monument. Finally you’ll arrive at Humahuaca, a traditional village founded about 400 years ago alongside the Grande River. Here you’ll visit the 17th-century cathedral, the Monument to Independence and the handicrafts market, before returning to Salta City by late afternoon.

Day 9
Salta - Cafayate - Salta
This morning you’ll depart Salta City, passing through several traditional villages before reaching the stunning River Las Conchas Gorge, declared a Natural Monument by UNESCO due to its fascinating rock formations and the colours of the hills. You’ll continue to Cafayate, known for its vineyards and its earthquake-proof church, where you’ll also visit the handicrafts market, the wine museum and the Archaeological and Colonial Museum, before returning to Salta by late afternoon.

Day 10
Salta - Iguassu Falls
This morning you’ll transfer to Salta airport for your flight to Puerto Iguazu, where you’ll check into your hotel.

Iguassu Falls
Today you’ll visit the Argentinean side of Iguassu Falls, boarding a gas-propelled train that will take you to the Upper Falls Circuit and the Devil's Throat, where you’ll walk along the catwalks to view the magnificent falls.

Day 12
Iguassu Falls - Home
You’ll head off early this morning to visit the Brazilian side of the Falls, finishing with a fantastic close-up encounter with the Devil's Throat and main falls. Your tour comes to an end this afternoon as you’re transferred to the airport for your onward flight.
