Day 3
Beijing
One of the highlights of your stay in Beijing this morning when you visit the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall, one of the great wonders of the world. You take a cable car up and can walk along this finely restored part of the wall. Then after lunch visit the Temple of Heaven, a sequence of temples and altars set in a park. Twice a year during imperial times, the emperor and a procession of around 1,000 eunuchs, courtiers, and ministers would leave the Forbidden City for this temple.

Day 4

Today you leave Beijing and travel by high speed bullet train to Xian, which stands on the Guanzhong Plain in central China and is one of the country's oldest cities, with a history that dates back over 3,000 years. On arrival you are met at the train station and taken to your hotel. In the afternoon take a walk around and visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda and in the evening enjoy a traditional dumpling dinner at De Fa Chang restaurant.

Day 5
Xian
Another highlight of the tour today when you are taken to meet the famous Terracotta Warriors. One of the world’s greatest archaeological finds, these lifelike warriors were discovered by chance in 1974 by a group of peasants who were digging a well. The sculptures of soldiers, chariots and horses were funerary statues made to accompany China’s first emperor, Qin Shi Huang, to the afterlife. After lunch take a walk around Xian's impressive city wall and visit the Great Mosque.

Today after breakfast you are taken to the airport for a morning flight to Shanghai, which stands on the estuary of the mighty Yangtze River. Originally a small seaside fishing village settled since before the Song Dynasty, it wasn’t until 1927 that Shanghai was officially declared a city. On arrival you will be met at the airport and driven to your hotel. The rest of the afternoon and evening is free on you to explore this exciting neon-lit city on your own.
