Overview
Cruise along the mighty Mekong River through Cambodia and Vietnam as you are transported back in time to an era when the rhythms of the countryside moved at a slower pace. On this tour you get a fascinating glimpse into a traditional way of life, visiting rural villages, colourful markets and a monastery, where you receive a special blessing by Buddhist monks. This wonderful cruise begins in Siem Reap, gateway to the Angkor temple complex, and after travelling through Phnom Pehn ends in Saigon across the border in Vietnam.
Day 1
Siem Reap
Leave your hotel in Siem Reap and travel by coach to Kampong Cham where you board your boat for the seven night cruise. But before setting sail you are taken to the Twin Mountains, known as Phnom Pros and Phnom Srei. In Khmer legend these mountains were formed as the result of a competition between men and women of an ancient Cambodian kingdom to resolve which would be responsible for wedding proposals. Later, join fellow guests for a welcome dinner on board.

Day 2
Angkor Ban
This morning you take a walking tour to Angkor Ban, one of the few villages that was not destroyed by the Khmer Rouge regime in the 1970s. Here people still live in traditional wooden stilt houses and keep their old cultural heritage alive. Then sail on to Oknhatey or 'Silk Island' on the banks of the Mekong River, which is known for its rich tradition of silk weaving. While here, visit an elementary school and see the weavers at work. Tonight you moor beside the village.

Day 3
Phnom Penh
Today you arrive in Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia. On a morning excursion you are taken to Oudong, the country's former royal capital. Oudong is a place of pilgrimage for Cambodians and while here you will take part in a memorable Buddhist blessing ceremony at a monastery. Then take an oxcart ride through a village before touring Phnom Penh on a tuk tuk seeing the French architecture and tree lined boulevards. Back on ship you are entertained by young folk dancers.

Day 4
Phnom Penh
This morning you visit Cambodia's infamous Killing Fields and the Khmer Rouge's grim Tuol Sleng S21 detention centre, where so many people were tortured and murdered during the Pol Pot regime. If you would prefer not to visit this genocide museum you can go to the bustling Central Market instead. After lunch on board you are taken to explore the highlights of the city followed by a visit to the Royal Palace, the spectacular Silver Pagoda and the National Museum.

Tan Chau
Today you stop at Tan Chau, a small Mekong river town unspoilt by tourism. Leave the boat and take a trishaw ride around the area with stops at silk-making and rattan mat workshops, followed by a boat trip after lunch through some of the narrow channels of the river to explore lush Evergreen Island. Then return to your ship and head off to Da Dec enjoying dinner on board as the sun sets turning the waters gold.
