A collection of delightful suites and apartments, Chateau Marlborough is perfectly placed for exploring one of the world’s most renowned wine regions. Set in the charming town of Blenheim, on the northern tip of the South Island, the hotel ensconces you in natural beauty and a rural way of life. The untamed nature of the island makes an impressive foil to the vineyards of sauvignon blanc that carpet the landscape.

Treat yourself to an afternoon at Tracey Wax, the day spa of Chateau Marlborough. Beauty treatments ranging from nails to facials and massages will whip you into shape in no time. A new facility at the hotel, it features specially trained therapists who will pamper you no end.

Room Description

There’s plenty of choice with room categories here, and even the classic suites are a cut above the norm. Spacious and filled with natural light thanks to large windows, they feature super king sized beds and comfy armchairs and calming natural tones of cream, white and dark leather. Wi-fi, LCD TVs and tea and coffee makers come as standard. Further up the scale, expect a plusher, more contemporary design, featuring walk-in bathrooms with glass doors and wet floors.

Relaxing with a chilled glass of wine poolside is a must on hotter days, and the outdoor swimming pool here is a handy feature. A well-equipped gym is also on hand to keep in shape during your stay, and there is bike hire too – perfect for exploring the wild landscapes of South Island on your own Lord of the Rings adventure. Excursions on offer also include mussel tours by boat, visits to small boutiques and galleries, and of course sampling the region’s renowned food and wine.

You won’t want to stray far for dinner, thanks to the superb Quench Restaurant and Wine Bar. This cosy locale has won awards for its beef and lamb (what else?) and has an outdoor terrace for tucking into its classic dishes. New Zealand products are to the fore, and you can expect to savour the likes of baked lamb cutlets with cous cous or glazed beef fillet on potato hot cakes over the course of an evening.
