The palatial modern edifice of the Lodhi hotel is situated in the ancient and vibrant city of New Delhi, which stands on the Yamuna River in Northern India. The hotel is just 40 minutes Indira Ghandi International Airport, and only 10 minutes from the heart of the city, so it offers the perfect place to explore and experience the culture and history of Delhi.
The Lodhi’s 40 elegant rooms and suites are set in nine-storey two–winged building. Refurbished in 2012 all of the rooms reflect an attractive contemporary style, with extensive use of local materials, muted pastel tones, and contemporary classic furnishings. All of the room sand suites have their own private balconies with plunge pool, king sized beds, comfortable sofas and armchairs, desks, and ambient lighting. Bathrooms are luxurious, with twin vanities, shower and bathtube, and separate WC. The Lodhi and Lodhi De Luxe rooms have a combined living and bedroom area, whereas suites are designed with separate living and dining areas, while the bedrooms and their ensuite bathrooms are set at opposite sides of the suite for added privacy. Larger suites have a dressing room. All the rooms have Wi-Fi, two 500ml water bottles, slippers, dental and shaving kits, and tea and coffee-making facilities.
The Lodhi has an extensive list of things to do, and it would be rude not start with the spa. Its 10 treatment rooms offer a peaceful and tranquil setting in which to enjoy its extensive menu of treatments, ranging ayurvedic to contemporary international therapies. There are male and female hammans, plunge pools of varying temperatures, and a salon offering a range of hair and beauty treats. Now for the exercise. The 50m lap pool, which is heated in winter, is right next to the gym. Which offers a full range of equipment, as well as yoga lessons, and a Pilates studio. Then there are three all-weather tennis courts, and two air-conditioned squash courts – so not excuses for not staying in shape.
The Elan restaurant offers informal dining for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a menu spanning regional India, Mediterranean and South East Asian dishes. The Courtyard adjacent is a lovely spot for a glass of wine or a coffee, while the bar offers an cosy space for a quiet meeting or drinks. The rather stunning OTW (On The Waterfront) restaurant, is set in a glass walled air conditioned jetty and offers pan-Asian to European cuisine. The fabulous Pool Café is set adjacent to the swimming pool is open just to hotel guests. It offers burgers, sandwiches and salads, as well as more healthy options for the spa guests. The chic and intimate Andira is a supper and night club, open late to guests and locals. And finally, if you just want to chill out in your PJs, you can order anything you like from the room service menu.
