General

Five-star luxury awaits you on the shores of Lake Geneva – in a location that’s close to the town centre (3 miles) and airport (2 miles), yet far enough away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The hotel, styled very much as an African lodge, is surrounded by 10 acres of exquisitely landscaped gardens. Like a grand ‘Secret Garden’, it’s a place only for those in the know.

Spa

The ‘Secret Garden’ theme carries through to the hotel spa, which is a true sanctuary. It’s 2,000 square metres of bliss, with a lovely indoor pool and a number of treatment rooms where you can lie back and enjoy the latest therapies, such as the Nescens Better Ageing Programs, aesthetic angiology, exclusive La Prairie treatments, a range of massages and osteopathy. There’s also a state-of-the-art gym, sauna and hammam.

Room Description

Refinement and comfort, with a twist of African safari lodge, is the theme throughout in the 85 rooms (superior, executive and deluxe) and 17 suites (with a whole host of evocative names, such as the Lake Suite, Papyrus Suite, Presidential or Royale). All provide a private balcony or terrace, co-ordinated furnishing and fabrics, black granite and marble mosaic bathroom and a work desk. Suites are spacious and, depending on the choice, provide a host of extras – anything from a separate lounge area, dining table, whirlpool bath and/or walk-in closet to a collection of objets d’art.

Activities

First, explore the gardens, a healing space where you can gaze out over the lake itself. For children, La Petite Reserve is a carefully designed cabin on stilts where children aged up to 13 can have a ball. There’s also an outdoor pool if you fancy a splash. If you want to make an even bigger splash, you can arrange a complimentary trip into Geneva by motoscafo (March to October), which leaves from the hotel’s own private harbour. The hotel chef, Philippe Durandeau, also runs special group workshops, if you’d like to improve your cookery skills, and there are a number of fitness classes at the spa, including Pilates, yoga, cardio-dance and ‘gymnastique posturale’, as well as tennis courts.

Dining

The hotel has five restaurants, so you can opt for swanky or more relaxed, depending on your mood. At the swanky end is Le Loti, which promises a taste sensation, whether for dinner or at the special Sunday brunch, which includes a sushi buffet. There’s also Le Tsé Fung, for Shanghai-stylish Chinese and Asian cuisine, light and airy Café Lauren for healthy eating at its best and Le Bar for drinks and delicious light bites. Outside, near the swimming pool, you’ll find The Summer Lodge for excellent summer dining, and the fairytale Winter Lodge, for a range of winter classics – and a turn round the hotel’s own private skating rink!
