Travel at a relaxed pace through the Art Deco Quarter, the historic Port Ahuriri and a delightfully quaint Art Deco residential suburb. You will also visit the Napier Municipal Theatre and the National Tobacco Company building.
The town, which is in the heart of the Hawke's Bay wine region, suffered a massive earthquake in 1931 and the fires that followed destroyed most of the buildings. But by the end of the decade Napier had the newest city centre on the globe. Today it is recognised as having one of the largest collections of Art Deco buildings outside Miami.
