1 Day Tour to Yala National Park
Day Tour to Yala National Park

See the leopards at Yala

Sri Lanka’s premier national park is the home of elephant, leopard, bear, crocodile and wild boar and on this full day tour you are likely to come across all of these animals in the wild. Located to the south east of the island, the park's main physical features are sand dunes, lagoons, dry river, stream beds, rocky outcrops and scrub and thorn forest.

Yala is the second largest of Sri Lanka’s national parks and its open undulating terrain made it famous for elephants for many years. But recently the park has also received lots of coverage by National Geographic, the BBC and the Discovery TV channels, which focused on a leopard research and conservation project. It is thought Yala has the world’s highest concentration of leopard per square mile.

2 Half Day Tour of Colombo
Half Day Tour of Colombo

Do some detective work in Colombo

Colombo, the trade and commercial capital of Sri Lanka, has long been the traditional gateway to the Orient. Located on the west coast, Sri Lanka’s largest city draws together all the cultures, religions and influences of foreign lands into a pot-pourri of sounds, smells and a kaleidoscope of colour. The original settlers - Arabs, Portuguese, Dutch and the British have left so much in their wake which you see today.

Colombo is a fascinating city - a happy blend of east and west, past and present, with a charm of its own. A less known but amazingly true fact is that Colombo has a superb range of high quality restaurants serving food from all over the world and some of the best shopping opportunities in Asia. The main seaport of Sri Lanka is in Colombo and adjoining it is Pettah, a local bazaar and trading area.

Half Day Tour to Sigiriya and Dambulla

Rock up and admire the views

The remains of Sigiriya, the famous Lion Rock, is one of the many must see destinations in Sri Lanka. On the west of the rock are ponds, remains of summer palaces and other structures, and part of the ancient road which led to the summit. The entire western face of the rock had been covered with plaster and paintings, but only some in two sheltered pockets now survive. Take a walk to the top for stunning views.

On this half day tour you also visit Dambulla, famous for the five cave temples on a rock. The first three caves are better, older and larger than the other two and some date back to the 1st century BC. All the five cave walls and ceilings are covered with Buddhist murals and there are more than 130 Buddha statues, and statues of gods and kings to be found in this incredible place.

7 Udawalawa Day Tour
Udawalawa Day Tour

Watch elephants in the wild

If you fancy a great wildlife experience while staying on Sri Lanka then take this day tour to Udawalawa to spend a memorable day watching the elephants. Udawalawa lies south of the central hills of the island, and is surrounded by a man made reservoir, which is part of the park. There are an estimated 450 of the gentle giants here and you will get to see many of them.

Udawalawa is a mixture of abandoned teak plantation, scrub jungle and grassland. The dry season is best to watch the many herds of elephant that roam the park, which is usually between May and September. But a visit is rewarding at any time of year. Almost the entire park is covered with tall, reedy Pohon grass, which grows all year round and this is the best place to watch elephants in the wild.
