On this full day trip from Udaipur you travel the 100 miles to Chittorgarh where the main tourist attraction is the fort, which stands on a steep hill. A zigzag climb through seven gates leads you to its main western gate or Ramol.

On the way up you pass memorials marking the spots where the defenders fell during the siege of 1568. During your visit here you also see the cellars, the archeological museum, the Singa Chowri Temple and the Fateh Prakash Palace and Museum as well as the adjacent Rana Kumbha Palace and the Victory Tower, which is one of the most popular spots with tourists.

It's a 50 mile drive from the city and on arrival you have a guided tour of this unconquerable fortress, which is surrounded by 13 magnificent peaks of the Aravali mountain ranges, and learn all about its fascinating history.

The fortress was built in the 15th century by Maharana Rana Kumbha and stands on the top of a ridge. The fortifications stretch for a distance of 30 miles which has put it in the record books for having the second longest wall in the world after the Great Wall of China. Inside the huge fort complex you will see numerous palaces, temples and magnificent gardens.

The paintings, mosaics, intricately carved 'chhatris' and the architecturally brilliant facade all contribute to making this a truly memorable experience. You also visit the Jagdish Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, which comprises beautifully carved pillars, decorated ceilings, painted walls and lush halls. Later visit a picturesque garden, Sahelion ki Bari, before enjoying a boat ride on Lake Pichola.
