5 best restaurants in Goa
Our favourite places to eat. Enjoy awesome food and stunning decor.
Miguel Arcanjo Restaurant
Legacy of a chef extraordinaire
The culinary wizardry which Goa’s first executive chef pioneered in 1925 broke barriers and enthralled patrons. Today, although the chef, Miguel Arcanjo, has passed, the restaurant which bears his name continues his proud contribution to inventive Goan and international cuisine.
Located at the Taj Exotica Hotel, the restaurant boasts classy interiors and exquisite dishes, including our favourite, the fresh and delicious char-grilled lobster. Finger bowl, please!

Sheela Restaurant & Bar
Tasty local with unbeatable value
It may be modest but Sheela’s has the distinction of being a locals’ favourite for 25 years. With a deck which overlooks scenic riverine beauty, this family-run affair serves up traditional and wholesome Indian food, like its ever popular thali. Other winners include the stuffed crabs and prawn curry as well as the fried Bombay duck. It’s not the fastest restaurant as the food is prepared to order but, with gorgeous views and the temptation of tastes to come, it’s well worth the wait.

Spice Goa
Unbeatable seafood masala
You know you’re in a popular seafood restaurant when the locals refer to the owner as Doctor Fish! Passionate – and exceptionally knowledgeable – about food, this is the place to come for seafood masala. Most of the flavours originate from North Goa, so expect it to be spicy, like the ladyfish marinated in chilli powder, turmeric, tamarind pulp and Aparna seasoning. All types of seafood are available, depending on season, including crabs, oysters and tandoori line-fish.
Satadhar Complex, Shop No. 3, Bombay Goa Road, Karaswada, Mapusa

House of Lloyds
Surf and turf, Goa style
Set in a wonderful Portuguese villa, this is a casual yet trendy restaurant. With a kitchen, bar, mini lounge, open grill and even a dance floor, there’s fun for everyone. That same generosity is reflected on the menu with a wide range of dishes, ranging across the land and into the deep. BBQ fans must try the 2-week marinated fillet steaks. Or if seafood’s your thing, tuck into the Parmesan Crusted Red Snapper with Malibu sauce. There’s also a wide range of crazy cocktails. Cheers!

Global fusion tapas
Why choose one dish, or even one country’s cuisine, when you can have them all? Maracas offers a superb selection of tasting dishes. There’s Beef Chimichim, Pesto eggplant, Spicy Prawns in port wine and Stuffed Dates, a delicious Goan speciality. Desserts are delightful too; favouring fresh-fruit-based dishes which leave a refreshing taste in one’s mouth. And the décor is super-trendy with wrought iron tables, comfy blue sofas, water features and a green garden. Enjoy!
