Sip fine Portuguese wine and sangria while sampling tasty tapas at this restaurant and wine bar in the heart of Faro’s Old Town. Candlelit for romance and with a rustic feel, live acoustic music creates a special ambience in which to enjoy comfort food of the highest standard – from chorizo platters to classic burgers. Le Marquis Restaurant
Fine dining with a French feel
There’s a reason why le Marquis is Faro’s number-one restaurant on Trip Advisor. Set within the converted stables of a traditional quinta, it serves a regularly changing menu of fine food. From the tempting amuse bouche to spare ribs and smoked scallops, you’ll struggle to name your favourite dish at the end of the night. And Sundays are super for families, with a traditional roast dinner. All this accompanied by world wines and friendly service make it worth the trip to the outskirts of the city.

Adega Nova Restaurant
Local love
Built in the style of a traditional Portuguese bodega, Adega Nova is the place to go for an authentic local experience in a one of the city’s most loved institutions. The warm surroundings welcome groups as well as couples, locals as well as tourists. Cuisine comes from all parts of Portugal, created with the freshest ingredients – don’t miss the bacalhau (salt cod) and other fish, caught daily for the ‘pratos do dia’. Great value, a good wine list and a central location make this one of our Faro favourites.

Dois Irmãos
Cataplana and charm
As soon as you see this rustic little restaurant you may just fall in love. Dois Irmãos is a quaint little place decorated in tiles and with a charming outdoor dining area. Dating back to 1925, it remains one of Faro’s most popular restaurants and there’s nowhere better to tuck into a traditional cataplana (a seafood dish served in cookware of the same name). Home-style favourites also stretch to grilled meats and pasta at this no-frills but friendly venue.
