TEMPLES AND TREASURE

After a morning pick up from your hotel, you are driven to Corinth via Iera Odos (the Sacred Way). First stop is at the Monastery of Daphni, a 11th-century Byzantine monastery listed as a World Heritage site together with Monasteries Hosios Loukas and Nea Moni of Chios. The interior of the church is decorated with superb mosaics, a unique example of the classical idealism of Middle Byzantine art.

The crowded scenes of the mosaics show the life of Christ and the Virgin. Driving along the coastal road, you reach Corinth canal, which merges the Aegean with the Ionian Sea. At Corinth you visit the ruins of the ancient city, see the remains of the first century shops, the Agora, the Fountain of Peirene, and one of the most outstanding monuments of the pre – Roman period, the stunning Temple of Apollo.

SEE THE CITY AND THE MUSEUM

This comprehensive tour starts with a short stop at the Panathinaiko Stadium where the first Olympic Games took place in 1896. Continue with a panoramic drive passing by ex Royal Palace, Zappion Hall, Roman Temple of Olympian Zeus, National Temple of Hadrian Arch, St. Paul’s church, Tomp of the Unknown Soldier, Schliemann’s House, Catholic Cathedral, academy, University and National Library.

Full day tour of Delphi

Explore one of the most famous UNESCO’s world heritage site with a day tour from Athens to magical Delphi. Depart via the national highway passing by Thebes, Levadia for a short stop, you will arrive in Delphi at around noon. Famous of its theatre, Temple of Apollo and ancient ruins, Delphi was considered the centre of the earth and the universe and played a central role in the classical Greek world.

PILGRIMS PROGRESS

A visit to Tinos has become something of a pilgrimage, a virtual act of faith, for anyone staying in Mykonos. This island, some 45 minutes away by ferry, is home to one of the most famous and sacred churches in Greece, the Panagia Evangelistria, an awe-inspiring shrine atop a hill dominating Tinos town. This Renaissance-style church has been associated with miracles and wondrous deeds.

Then head to the quaint, whitewashed monastery of Kechrovouni, before continuing to the majestic mountain of Exomvourgo, with its castle ruins. Then stop at the gorgeous little hamlet of Volax, famous for its basket makers, before heading back to the pretty fishing village of Panormos. Final stop on the tour is the marble-producing hilltop village of Pyrgos. You return to Mykonos at around 10pm.
