Enjoy a triple treat
Poas Volcano is considered the largest active crater in the world with frequent, geyser-like eruptions. Here you find trails that lead through cloud forests, which are stunted and twisted by volcanic emissions. Lake Botos fills an extinct crater at the end of one trail and is home to many cloud forest birds and fantastic scenery.
On the way to Poas Volcano National Park, stunning scenery will unfold as you pass through coffee, sugar, fern, and strawberry plantations. Watch the vegetation change as you keep ascending until you reach the cloud forest to visit Doka Estate Coffee, home to one of Costa Rica’s highest quality beans. Your final stop is at the famous town of Sarchi, known for its handcrafts, where you can see the craftsmen at work.
