5 best restaurants in Krabi
Our favourite places to eat. Enjoy awesome food and stunning decor.
Ruen Mai
Hidden gem
Ruen Mai has been the best Thai restaurant in Krabi for 20 years. Now, with its secluded new location and chef, it’s better than ever, serving the perfect blend of Thai-spiced dishes. The vast menu includes seafood and southern specialities, with mostly organic vegetables and herbs grown on site. Diners eat outdoors in the well-tended garden amongst lush banana and sugarcane plantations under thatched bamboo. Our top picks include red curry snapper and dog conch - the king of Krabi shellfish.

Takola Restaurant
Fantastic fine dining
Krabi Town is not known for an abundance of fine dining venues, so Takola, a chic eatery on the outskirts of the town, is a great find for an upscale evening. Trendy and chic, it serves a choice of Australian and Chilean wines to complement the Thai and Chinese menu. Sample the steamed sea bass in a spicy sauce, and if that isn’t hot enough for you, ask for an ultra-spicy southern dish. Ingredients come from the Krabi Organic Produce Farm and all meals are served with a refreshing arugula salad.

Viva Restaurant
Best Italian in town
If you’re craving good old Western food – which includes traditional crispy pizza – Viva is the place for you. Owned by a native Italian, it serves traditional Mediterranean food and has been a Krabi landmark for five years. With its quiet surrounds and gentle ambience, it’s the perfect place to enjoy authentic pastas, imported meats and well-known desserts, from tiramisu to pannacotta. Good value for money and offering an array of wines, it’s great when you need a change from traditional Thai.

Gajanana Restaurant & Bar
For authentic Indian
The family-run Gajanana Restaurant serves Indian specials you wouldn’t expect in Krabi. Set up as an authentic dhaba with comfy seating, it is ideally located for lunch while sightseeing in Nong Thale, and is known for lavish Indian dishes like mutton biryani, chicken masala and amazing garlic naans. Most of the cuisine is spicy so, for something milder, try the Nepalese and Chinese creations. Sip on tea, chilled beer or a creative cocktail while absorbing the elegant décor of this unique setting.

Krabi Night Market
Cheap and cheery - to take away
Yes it’s touristy, but at Krabi Night Market you’ll find some of the town’s best local dishes at a fraction of the price of the restaurants. Browse the stalls for your dish of choice – or try a few – then pull up a plastic chair and get stuck in. Must-tastes include som tam (green papaya salad), mango sticky rice, fried noodles and lemongrass soup… not to mention milky Thai desserts and chocolate and banana pancakes. Beers are super-cheap too, so you just can’t go wrong!
