SKY'S THE LIMIT

Leave early for a 50 minute drive west to the village of Long Lao, the starting point for your hike. This rustic village, little-visited by tourists, is nestled inside a picture-perfect valley and consists of ethnic Hmong and Kamu enclaves. A local trekking guide will join you and your Lao guide, to lead your hike of six to seven hours beginning with an ascent to a skyline ridge, offering views over Long Lao village and its enclosing valley.

Then you follow a marked trail, which will be steep in parts and slippery in the wet season, stopping at Nong Koi Lake, a picturesque watering place for animals. Around half way in to your hike, stop for a picnic lunch and admire the views of surrounding hills. The rest of your walk is a descent through forests and over plains to the town of Xieng Ngeun where you will be met and driven back to Luang Prabang.
