Day with the elephants

Deep within the shadows of the dense valley bushveld of the Sundays River region lies the Addo Elephant National Park. The original elephant section of the park was proclaimed in 1931, when only 11 elephants remained in the area. Today this finely tuned ecosystem is sanctuary to more than 420 elephants, 450 Cape buffalo, black rhino and antelope, as well as the unique flightless dung beetle, found almost exclusively in Addo.

It can be easy to just relax in the sunshine or travel around the many local sights while staying in Port Elizabeth, but this private trip around the famous wildlife park is a real must while staying in the city. You are taken on a drive right around the national park making a stop for lunch at a picnic area overlooking a waterhole where you have a great chance to see lots of the animals.
