Set in the Bay of Plenty district of New Zealand’s North Island, the five star Regent of Rotorua occupies a lakeside position in the heart of the city of Rotorua. As well as a Maori heartland, the district is also known for its incredible geomorphology, including its hot springs, which made it a popular spa destination.
The Regent offers a wide range of accommodation, from “Cutie Rooms’ (small but perfectly formed, ideal for singles or couples who like to be close) to two-bedroom Executive Suites. All the rooms are decorated in the Regent’s signature modern but glamorous style, with designer furniture and a mainly black and white scheme accented with shots of vibrant colour. All the room have a luxurious range of mod cons, including luxury linens, Citta Design bathrobes, custom beds with down quilts and pillows, speaker phones, flatscreen LCD TV, in-room safes, unlimited Wi-FI, iPock docking stations, plunger coffee makers, microwaves, and mini bars. The sumptuous bathrooms have hairdryers, Monsoon Rain Showers, (soaking tubs in the Suites) and body and hair care by Natural Earth.
If you can bear to leave your rooms, the hotel offers a delightful outdoor pool surrounded by comfortable loungers where you can soak up the sun, as well as an indoor thermal mineral pool – the business for soothing any aches and pains – small but well equipped gym. The town centre is within walking distance for a spot of shopping, you can take a stroll in the Government Gardens, and then there is the lake itself, right on the doorstep. The concierge is happy to help organise any trips or excursions, and can arrange for some of the attractions to collect you right from the door.
The new Regent Room Restaurant & Wine Bar opened to rave reviews for its award-winning Pacific-fusion menu, tapas and small sharing plates. The Restaurant serves breakfast, brunch, lunch bar snacks and dinner, as well as a great cocktail menu and boutique wine list. In the summer dinner you can enjoy eating al fresco in the courtyard, or relaxing by the pool with a nice cold beer. There are several options for private dining, from the Regent Club Lounge , seating just 12 people, to the ground floor boardroom which seats up to to 30. Conferences and weddings can also be catered for.
