Set above the Arctic Circle in Finnish Lapland, Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort is a stunning location for an adventurous wilderness getaway. Here you'll find astonishing natural beauty and unforgettable accommodation in glass igloos – making the most of the stunning views – or cosy log cabins.
Kakslauttanen boasts the world's largest smoke sauna, which has space for 100 people to relax and warm up in three separate rooms.
Kakslauttanen is renowned for its 20 glass igloos, which are simply furnished so as not to detract from the incredible views. There are also 40 log cabins, each with its own sauna, while the Queen Suite has its own outdoor hot tub. The newly-built Kelo-Glass Igloos, which sleep up to six, give you the best of both worlds, with all the warmth of a log cabin as well as a glass roof, or, for a real adventure, if you're visiting in the winter you can stay in the Snow Igloo.
In the winter you can explore this breathtaking landscape with a safari powered by snowmobile, reindeer or huskies, or take a skiing or ice-fishing trip. Summer activities include kayaking, horse-riding and mountain-biking, as well as the chance to pan for gold. Whenever you visit you'll want to take a nighttime Aurora-hunting adventure, chasing the northern lights on skis or sleighs.
There are two restaurants, each offering an a la carte menu of traditional Lappish cuisine, including reindeer. There's also a glass igloo bar.
