General

This traditionally styled, elegant 18-room boutique hotel is located on the edge of Stone Town offers guests a warm welcome and convenient location close to the Indian Ocean waterfront, Palace Museum and close to the House of Wonders. It’s set in a stunning renovated building with preserved traditional features including stone arches and marble floors, as well as a pretty courtyard garden. It boasts a high standard of amenities for a comfortable stay and hosts music nights so guests can enjoy the sound of Taarab. To get here, it’s just a short ride from the local airport.

Room Description

Each of the hotel’s 17 rooms feature a tasteful vibrant décor that combines contemporary and local elements, including hand-carved furniture including a work desk and four-poster king bed, brightly patterned colourful drapes, either a sofa or armchair and footstool, flat-screen TV, and bathroom with shower. Guests will also enjoy the daily turn-town and housekeeping service. Some rooms have sea views, and there are also family rooms.

Activities

The quaint narrow streets of the fascinating Stone Town – named after the coral stone buildings of the 19th century – are moments from the hotel. Take a walk and soak up the atmosphere, shop for spices, local crafts and sample local food in the many restaurants. Queen fans will also relish in the opportunity to discover the birthplace of the band’s famous frontman, Freddie Mercury.

Dining

Head to the Lulu Lounge to enjoy contemporary as well as traditional dishes served overlooking the Indian Ocean, Stone Town and the harbor. It’s a good spot for watching the sunset with a cocktail. For a cognac and cigar, head to the sophisticated Lounge Bar, also the venue for the hotel’s various musical events.
