Thailand to open new football-themed hotel

A new football-themed hotel is set to open later this year in Thailand’s North Eastern province of Buriram. The hotel, owned by the Thailand-based ONYX Hospitality Group, is scheduled to open at the end of this year.

The new hotel will feature 60 rooms and will resemble a football stadium. Designed by I’ll Design Studio, the rooms in the hotel will overlook a central area, which will include a football field and swimming pool for guests on holiday in Thailand.Amari Buriram Signing

"Amari Buriram United is one element of a project I am investing in to ensure Buriram becomes one of the country's top five tourism and sports destinations, able to attract both local and foreign tourists," said Newin Chidchob, president of Buriram United Football Club.

Guests at the football-themed hotel will be able to enjoy changing room style bathrooms and a football team themed restaurant, which will include bench-style seating so that guests can feel like they’re on their very own sports team.Beach Football

"This is a very exciting venture for ONYX. We share Buriram United by Khun Newin's vision for Buriram and we are thrilled to be opening our first Amari in this region of Thailand,” said Peter Henley, CEO and president of ONYX, which is part of the Amari brand. “As Amari's first ever themed hotel, we also look forward to introducing a fun and creative new hotel design inside and out, whilst continuing to provide the warm hospitality for which Amari is so well known.”

The new hotel will include 44 ‘superior’ rooms, 14 ‘deluxe’ room and two suites. Scheduled to open by the end of this year, the hotel is hoped to bring a new influx of sports tourism into the North Eastern province of Thailand.
