Everything you need to know about Singapore

What makes Singapore special? 5 reasons to visit

1. It's Singapore. Look at a map and it's almost not even there. It's that small. You'll almost have to take cheap flights to Singapore to prove it. But this is South East Asia's richest and strongest by a country mile. It's a city-state that zips along with all the mod cons: shiny underground, towering scrapers and fat wallets. And everyone has an iPhone. It's almost exactly like the West - except the people are respectful and their busiest shopping street is lined with centuries-old oaks. Now if only we could do that here...  2. It's history. You're too late for the opium dens and the Empire's ceremonial attire. One way to recapture this city's steamy colonial past is, of course, with a Singapore sling at Raffles Hotel. But there's history everywhere. Which is surprising for a small country that developed so fast. Old buildings and old customs abound - each ethnic group celebrates their own. Check out the Festival of the Hungry Ghosts or the Birthday of the Monkey God.  3. It's international. Enjoy a different Singapore every day of your holiday. Part of its success comes from its multicultural, expatriate population - and a lot gather in ethnic enclaves. There's Little India, the Arab quarter, Chinatown, and the colonial district. And when you need a break, wander in one of the city's lush, tropical parks. If you get lost, just ask. The national language is English.  4. It's food halls. To be fair, they are only one offering of the Singaporean food scene. But these vast halls are the mainstay of local cuisine. Everyone eats at one. And everything's on offer. The hygiene is officially regulated. The food is spectacular. Oh, and one last thing. Whoever said eating at home is cheaper was lying. These places are an absolute steal.   5. It's the gateway to Asia. Situated at the very south of the Malay peninsula, flights to Singapore don't only offer the chance of a fantastic holiday in the city itself, but also a base or starting point from which to explore more of South East Asia. So take the opportunity to discover the other Asia, like teeming Saigon or languid Laos.  Call us today to book your flights from the UK to Asia and to tailor-make your holiday. Don't forget to check out the price of our business class flights too. We can also help with hotels, car hire and a host of extras.
