Women spend nearly £250 on holiday 'essentials'

Many of us girls break our holiday budget before we’ve even set foot on the plane, a new survey has revealed. According to sunshine.co.uk, a third of women spend an average of £245 on holiday clothes, accessories and toiletries each time they go abroad.

We all have the urge to splash out on new styles before hitting the beach, but according to the new survey many of us are adding more than a third to the initial cost of our holidays! It seems those items we deem “essential” are actually burning quite a large hole in our pockets before we fly off to Australia, the USA, or closer to home.Holiday Essentials

The survey revealed that the average woman forks out up to £245 on four pieces of swimwear, six summer dresses, five “holiday tops”, three pairs of “holiday shoes”, two pairs of shorts and three pieces of jewellery - as well as a pair of sunnies, a beach bag and that all important sun lotion.

Furthermore, a staggering 21 per cent of women surveyed revealed that their main reason for buying new items for their holidays was that they did not want to look the same as they did in previous holiday snaps. A third of women also confessed that they buy new clothes every time they go away.Suitcases

“I think it’s easy to forget about other costs involved in going on holiday on top of the flight and accommodation,” said Chris Clarkson, co-founder of sunshine.co.uk. “‘My advice would be for people to really take a look at the clothes and accessories they already have, because there’s no need to buy new items each time.”
